Where is home?
More importantly, what is home?
We often look for home in a place.
In a building, a residence.
A physical place that hold comfort and familiarity for us.
Sometimes, home is a place of memories and our history.
Other times it is about the people who are closest to us.
We can confuse a location with what home really is.
For when we look for home in some external place, we miss the most important aspect of what it really is.
Home is not outside of us.
And it is not about the four walls that make up a defined space.
It is a feeling.
A feeling that lives inside of us.
Because the feeling of home lives inside of us we might not actually feel home in our own house.
We feel alienated and disconnected to the place we grew up in.
For we have outgrown the home that it once was.
Maybe we have moved on and found the feeling in a new place or with new people.
Most of all, if we don't have a place inside of us that feels like home, then no place on outside will feel like home either.
And the long path we must take to find our home is a deeply internal one.
Reconnecting to what feels right for us.
Finding our way past the trauma and grief that blocks us from feelign any comfort or peace.
Our home is a sacred place inside of us where our true fire dwells.
Where our spirit soars in the freedom of our own acceptance.
Not in some white picket fenced building that give the illusion of happiness.
Any room, building, or tent can be home to us.
For when we find that special place where our heart sings with the joy of belonging to ourselves, we are truly home.
No matter where we are, and no matter who we are with.
Especially if we are alone.
We can be with no one else and still be home.
Resting in the safety of our own heart.
Do you know where your home is?
Have found a way to connect to that special place inside of you?
