[NEW EPISODE] The Energy of True Wealth

This week on The Conscious Consultant Hour, Sam welcomes Sarah McCrum, a visionary money consciousness coach, and educator whose work is transforming how people around the world relate to wealth. Sarah is also the author of the new book, Love Money, Money Loves You.

After a profound spiritual experience in which she received direct messages from the energy of money itself, Sarah devoted her life to helping others heal their financial anxiety and rediscover money as a loving, supportive force. Her teachings invite us to move beyond scarcity and into a deeper alignment with abundance, generosity, and ease.

Drawing on her decades of work with entrepreneurs, leaders, and families, Sarah shares how our beliefs and emotions shape the flow of prosperity in our lives. Through her programs and live masterclasses, she helps people create what she calls genuine wealth, a blend of financial freedom, emotional wellbeing, and soulful purpose. Her approach is practical yet deeply spiritual, combining energy awareness with grounded steps for living in harmony with the natural flow of giving and receiving.

In this heartfelt conversation, Sam and Sarah explore how shifting the way we feel about money can shift everything. Together, they look at how personal transformation ripples outward, changing not only our bank accounts, but also our communities and the larger systems we’re part of. This episode will leave you inspired to see money not as a source of stress, but as an ally in creating a more conscious, compassionate world.

Tune in and share your own relationship with the energy of money on our YouTube livestream or on our Facebook page.

Show Notes

Segment  1

In this deeply reflective opening, Sam Liebowitz shares a powerful message from his blog, reminding listeners that healing our trauma requires profound courage and self-compassion. He encourages spiritual seekers to release comparisons, embrace their pain as a teacher, and recognize trauma as both a challenge and a sacred gift that can inspire collective healing. Transitioning into his interview with energy teacher and author Sarah McCrum, Sam introduces a transformative conversation on connecting with the loving energy of money, aligning abundance with purpose, and cultivating genuine wealth through spiritual awareness.

Segment 2

Sam continues with Sarah McCrum, who explains how daily automatic writing revealed money as a loving, generous energy—and how living by that insight gradually transformed her life despite early fear and doubt. Unlike “neutral energy” teachings, Sarah reframes money as love itself, helping resolve spiritual guilt and control myths by inviting alignment over force, and she offers four practical portals to receiving: relax, enjoy, love, and get clear. Together they affirm that our natural state is well-being; when we soften resistance and drop into simple enjoyment, abundance flows more naturally and authentically into purpose-driven lives.

Segment 3

Sam and Sarah unpack common paradoxes around wealth by reframing money as an inherently loving, alive flow of value—and distinguishing that from the human choices that can misuse it, inviting us to release old family stories, guilt, and control. Money “partnership” begins with four simple practices—relax, enjoy, love, and get clear—plus generosity that includes yourself, so you stay receptive and aligned with your true values and purpose. From desire as a soul-led impulse to the “sweetness” of letting resources circulate (save, invest, give, receive), they show how conscious stewardship replaces fear and scarcity patterns—the difference between spending from habit and allowing abundance to work through you.

Segment 4

Sarah shares a universal message from “the energy of money”: we’re in a collective shift where resources increasingly flow toward people and enterprises that uplift the world—so expand your vision beyond the personal and contribute to the whole. In groups, she sees the core blockage as self-love and inherited “thermostat” limits; cultivating curiosity, relaxing rather than forcing, and aligning with clear values opens a kinder, reciprocal partnership with money. Sam closes by pointing listeners to SarahMcCrum.com and her book *Love Money, Money Loves You* (also on Audible/Spotify), inviting us to deepen this practice as consciousness around wealth continues to awaken.

00:00:09.260 --> 00:00:33.080 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Good afternoon, my conscious co-creators! Welcome to the Conscious Consultant Hour, Awakening Humanity. I am very, very pleased that you are all here with me today. We've got a wonderful show in store for you, and I'm looking forward to bringing my guest on real quick. But first, of course, we have my blog post from a couple of years ago.

00:00:33.080 --> 00:00:37.990 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: This is a really good one, so listen, listen, like, you gotta pay attention to this one.

00:00:38.060 --> 00:00:41.359 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And this blog post is entitled.

00:00:41.710 --> 00:00:46.070 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: To heal our trauma takes great courage.

00:00:47.580 --> 00:00:51.339 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Trauma is not something that happens only once.

00:00:52.400 --> 00:00:59.880 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Our experience of the trauma may have happened a long time ago, or it may have happened yesterday.

00:01:00.470 --> 00:01:04.099 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Yet the feeling of it lives within us.

00:01:04.760 --> 00:01:11.009 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And re… and we relive the trauma over and over again in our minds.

00:01:11.440 --> 00:01:17.800 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: It causes us to create new patterns and ways of being that stay with us.

00:01:18.890 --> 00:01:24.199 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: The stories we tell ourselves and others are all affected by it.

00:01:24.910 --> 00:01:32.449 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So the experience lives on inside of us for months, years, and decades.

00:01:33.000 --> 00:01:36.559 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Any little thing can trigger our trauma response.

00:01:37.110 --> 00:01:41.629 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: A look, a word, a tone, or even a smell.

00:01:42.390 --> 00:01:49.499 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Suddenly, we find ourselves back in the torturous time of our life, when nothing made sense.

00:01:50.540 --> 00:01:53.849 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Our sense of safety and security are all gone.

00:01:54.210 --> 00:02:01.960 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: No one really understands us, for no one else has lived through the exact same trauma that we experienced.

00:02:03.320 --> 00:02:09.400 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Even if they can sympathize and empathize with us because of their own trauma.

00:02:09.650 --> 00:02:13.259 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Ours is always unique to us.

00:02:14.910 --> 00:02:19.889 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Our own trauma is always the hardest for us to work through.

00:02:21.470 --> 00:02:26.379 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: The only thing we can do is to stop looking for sympathy.

00:02:26.490 --> 00:02:31.310 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And do the hard work of unwinding the trauma.

00:02:32.320 --> 00:02:35.910 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: For the world will not change itself to suit us.

00:02:36.650 --> 00:02:39.889 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: It goes on exactly as it is.

00:02:40.870 --> 00:02:43.929 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And so do all the people we know.

00:02:45.570 --> 00:02:50.289 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: For it is not their responsibility to heal us.

00:02:50.750 --> 00:02:52.410 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: It is ours.

00:02:53.560 --> 00:02:59.069 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So it may not seem fair that we have to do the hard work.

00:02:59.660 --> 00:03:07.779 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And go through the pain, the memories, and the agony of letting go of our attachment to the trauma.

00:03:09.060 --> 00:03:15.509 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: The when we do, We are the ones who truly benefit from the hard work.

00:03:16.820 --> 00:03:21.539 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: It is our life that gets better and improves.

00:03:22.610 --> 00:03:27.949 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Our heart is the one that feels lighter And more at peace.

00:03:29.210 --> 00:03:36.420 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: The rewards of being willing to look at things that most people don't.

00:03:36.770 --> 00:03:38.100 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: are immeasurable.

00:03:39.190 --> 00:03:43.209 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So while our trauma is our greatest pain.

00:03:43.470 --> 00:03:45.650 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: It is also our greatest gift.

00:03:48.380 --> 00:03:54.179 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Without it, we would not dive deep into our pain and do something about it.

00:03:55.260 --> 00:04:00.080 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And perhaps once we have started on the path of healing and wholeness.

00:04:00.760 --> 00:04:05.010 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: We just might inspire someone else to do the same.

00:04:06.000 --> 00:04:12.240 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: For while we cannot change someone else, We can be an example.

00:04:12.590 --> 00:04:16.230 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: That they can follow, should they choose to do so.

00:04:17.740 --> 00:04:22.740 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Once enough of us step up, To be that example.

00:04:23.250 --> 00:04:24.790 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Maybe.

00:04:24.920 --> 00:04:28.369 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: We can ultimately heal the world.

00:04:29.800 --> 00:04:33.540 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Wouldn't that be a beautiful thing? Indeed?

00:04:35.810 --> 00:04:53.040 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So this, this particular blog post Came to me… Couple of years ago, I guess it was…

00:04:54.990 --> 00:04:59.050 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: when I was facing some of my own difficult things.

00:05:00.100 --> 00:05:03.780 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And also working with others who are dealing with their own trauma.

00:05:07.610 --> 00:05:13.489 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And it… just this idea of, like, not comparing ourselves to others.

00:05:16.070 --> 00:05:17.100 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And that…

00:05:17.210 --> 00:05:25.749 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: I realize that when we see someone else's trauma, when we see what they've been through, it seems so clear to us

00:05:25.860 --> 00:05:37.169 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: what needs to be done. It seems so clear to us where those patterns formed, and those habits, and the unhealthy relationships, whatever, it's just so obvious to us.

00:05:38.040 --> 00:05:40.910 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Because it was not our trauma.

00:05:41.300 --> 00:05:46.699 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: do someone else's. So we don't have an emotional attachment to it.

00:05:47.720 --> 00:05:49.160 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So what happens?

00:05:50.000 --> 00:05:53.039 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: When we have to deal with our own trauma.

00:05:53.860 --> 00:06:01.400 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: May not be as severe as someone else's, may not be… seem as big or as painful as someone else's.

00:06:02.050 --> 00:06:03.639 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: But it's ours.

00:06:04.920 --> 00:06:12.249 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And so for us to see our own trauma as clearly as we can see someone else's is really difficult.

00:06:13.980 --> 00:06:19.940 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Because we didn't live through their trauma. And they didn't live through ours.

00:06:21.190 --> 00:06:28.970 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So, comparing What we've experienced to what they experienced, it's not a fair comparison.

00:06:29.220 --> 00:06:36.449 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: To compare how we're dealing with our trauma versus how they're dealing with their trauma is not a fair comparison.

00:06:41.690 --> 00:06:47.869 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And so I, I, I… I just kind of felt inspired to write this blog post

00:06:49.220 --> 00:06:55.049 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Because it does take great courage to face our own trauma.

00:06:56.450 --> 00:07:01.439 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Facing someone else's trauma, it can be uncomfortable, but not nearly as bad.

00:07:02.870 --> 00:07:05.090 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Facing our own trauma? Woof.

00:07:06.520 --> 00:07:08.990 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: That's challenging. That's tough.

00:07:12.080 --> 00:07:19.390 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And so I guess… what I would love… to inspire you.

00:07:20.390 --> 00:07:23.570 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Is to be a little more compassionate to yourselves.

00:07:23.740 --> 00:07:25.629 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: When facing your own trauma.

00:07:26.020 --> 00:07:31.309 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And to be a little bit more compassionate with other people who are dealing with their own trauma.

00:07:32.840 --> 00:07:42.200 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: We don't have their experiences. We don't know what it's like to walk in their shoes. We don't truly know what it's like to live inside their skin.

00:07:45.700 --> 00:07:51.530 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So maybe we can… Hold a little more space for them.

00:07:52.570 --> 00:07:54.929 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Have a little bit more compassion.

00:07:58.040 --> 00:08:06.210 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Be a little more supportive and kind, especially when they're going through their most difficult challenges.

00:08:09.620 --> 00:08:11.520 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Trauma is not comparable.

00:08:14.900 --> 00:08:22.890 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And what it takes for us to overcome our trauma. Well, not overcome it, But at least…

00:08:26.170 --> 00:08:32.249 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Hold it in a way that it's not dictating how we live our days.

00:08:34.809 --> 00:08:38.779 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: If we can at least get there, then we've really accomplished something.

00:08:43.549 --> 00:08:48.829 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Yeah, so… Yeah, this is a good one.

00:08:49.170 --> 00:08:55.249 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So again, the title of this blog post is, To Heal Our Trauma Takes Great Courage.

00:09:37.680 --> 00:09:43.329 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Love money, money loves you. Yes, we're going to get into the money conversation today.

00:09:44.000 --> 00:10:00.209 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: After a profound spiritual experience in which she received direct messages from the energy of money itself, Sarah devoted her life to helping others heal their financial anxiety and rediscover money as a loving, supportive force.

00:10:43.590 --> 00:10:46.610 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Welcome to the Conscious Consultant Hour, Sarah.

00:10:47.170 --> 00:10:54.800 Sarah McCrum: Thank you very, very much, and that was a beautiful blog. So very, very true. I really… I felt every word of it.

00:10:54.800 --> 00:11:04.039 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Thank you, thank you, yeah. They tend to be rather apropos for who I'm having on my show that week.

00:11:05.050 --> 00:11:06.709 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So, I, I, I…

00:11:06.920 --> 00:11:21.189 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: you know, I have a lot of people approach me about coming on the show who talk about abundance and making money and being more successful and all that stuff, and I'm usually pretty selective about who I have come on and who I don't.

00:11:21.200 --> 00:11:30.519 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: But you take a very different approach to it, so it really intrigued me and made me want to have you come on.

00:11:31.100 --> 00:11:38.659 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And so, I would love if, you know, we just got a couple of minutes before the break, if you could just,

00:11:38.740 --> 00:11:52.189 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: you know, share with our audience, you know, what happened? How did you kind of get in touch with the quote-unquote energy of money? Because that's not something most people do, is it?

00:11:53.180 --> 00:12:12.779 Sarah McCrum: No, I actually had a business failure in 2010, which is just a very painful experience. And it was shortly after that, and I was given a little book that had exercises in it, and one of the exercises said, what would money like to say to you? Which is kind of a pretty odd question, actually.

00:12:13.370 --> 00:12:26.590 Sarah McCrum: But I was journaling, and I just started writing in my notebook, and my pen just took over. It was completely automatic writing. And the very first words that I wrote were, I would like to tell you to love me.

00:12:26.900 --> 00:12:36.449 Sarah McCrum: And then it went, just like, exactly, wow. And then it went on and essentially said, I am an energy. I'm very powerful and beautiful.

00:12:36.580 --> 00:12:53.750 Sarah McCrum: And it talked about how it's not the devil, and it never has been, and it's this beautiful energy of generosity, and it's here to help us connect with each other and contribute to each other, especially. And it ended by saying, don't wait, just take me, I will love you.

00:12:53.960 --> 00:12:54.370 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Hmm.

00:12:54.370 --> 00:13:04.799 Sarah McCrum: And what happened was I wrote a series of messages, from money like that. It was such a beautiful experience, I decided to do it again and again and again, and that formed the book.

00:13:04.800 --> 00:13:18.580 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: I see. And before you had that experience with automatic writing, had you had any other, like, kind of spiritual experiences before? Do you ever had automatic writing before? Did you ever have, like, a deep revelation in meditation or anything?

00:13:18.810 --> 00:13:27.980 Sarah McCrum: I'd done 22 years… 20 years at that point of energy work training with Chinese masters, so it was… and I'm a natural

00:13:27.980 --> 00:13:39.559 Sarah McCrum: channel-type person, but I'd never experienced it in writing. I'd never experienced it in that kind of way. So it was both new and sort of fitted into the context of who I already was.

00:13:39.560 --> 00:13:47.819 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Got you, got you. And so you say you studied with Chinese Energy Medicine Masters. Was it Qigong, or was it a different form?

00:13:48.060 --> 00:14:00.589 Sarah McCrum: I did 7 years of Qigong, and then I did 15 years with another master, which I just describe as energy for everything. It was really just the fundamentals of how life energy works in

00:14:00.590 --> 00:14:12.110 Sarah McCrum: health and well-being, in healing, in family dynamics, in business, in money, the whole lot. So it was really, how do you use subtle energy to get a better life?

00:14:12.740 --> 00:14:20.939 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: You studied… sort of energy work for so long, did you ever become a practitioner? Did you offer energy?

00:14:20.940 --> 00:14:23.630 Sarah McCrum: Yes, yes, I've been teaching for 26 years now.

00:14:23.630 --> 00:14:31.299 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Okay, okay, cool, cool. All right, we're gonna take our first break. When we come back,

00:14:31.370 --> 00:14:50.940 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Let's dive into, sort of, what the message is that money has for people. I haven't had a chance to fully read through the book, but I was going through the table of contents early, and you have some really fascinating chapter titles here, so I definitely want to touch on some of those. So, we'll get into that after the break, okay?

00:14:51.980 --> 00:15:06.589 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Wonderful. So everybody stay tuned. You're listening to The Conscious Consultant Hour, Awakening Humanity. Our guest this hour is Sarah McCrum, author of the book, Love Money, Money Loves You, and we'll be right back in just a moment.

00:16:52.000 --> 00:16:56.610 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Welcome back to The Conscious Consultant, our Awakening Humanity.

00:16:57.060 --> 00:17:01.120 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: We're speaking this hour with Sarah McCrum, author of the book.

00:17:01.280 --> 00:17:16.679 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Love Money, Money Loves You, an interesting title. So Sarah, in the last segment, you mentioned how just one day you started automatic writing and connecting to this energy of this thing we call money.

00:17:18.859 --> 00:17:25.880 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And, and you started, taking it like that wasn't just a one-time thing, that that happened several times afterwards.

00:17:26.390 --> 00:17:40.449 Sarah McCrum: Well, what happened was, because it was such a beautiful experience, and really heart-opening, you know, I read back what I'd written, and it touched me deeply. I'd never heard anything like it in my life, about money.

00:17:40.490 --> 00:17:55.500 Sarah McCrum: And so, because of that, you know, and I'd watch The Secret, I knew all the… you know, I'd been through all of that stuff, but when it came to me, like this, this is an energy of love, and so soft, and so kind of…

00:17:55.530 --> 00:18:04.500 Sarah McCrum: kind and generous. It was unbelievable, in a way, and so the next day, or two days later, I said, well, I wonder if money's got something else to say to me.

00:18:04.550 --> 00:18:13.930 Sarah McCrum: And I sat, and I wrote a short message, just, it was, like, a few paragraphs, and then the next day I did it again. And then I ended up doing it every day for about 3 months, and that

00:18:14.310 --> 00:18:19.789 Sarah McCrum: actually, the content of the book. I have to say, just to be accurate, it's not a new book.

00:18:21.010 --> 00:18:31.170 Sarah McCrum: It's not new, it's been published and republished a couple of times, but it's new to… you know, when people come across what's written in there, that tends to be very, very new to them.

00:18:31.170 --> 00:18:34.210 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Got it, got it, okay, okay.

00:18:35.070 --> 00:18:39.630 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: What got you to say, you know, I should publish a book from all these writings?

00:18:40.020 --> 00:18:54.150 Sarah McCrum: It's funny, actually, because I… it never really occurred to me at first. I was just doing it, and I was fascinated. And then I'd read Neil Donald Walsh's Conversations with God, and I thought, you know what, if I was somebody like Neil, I would…

00:18:54.150 --> 00:19:07.780 Sarah McCrum: publish this, it just, like, that's what other people do when they have experiences like this, and it was really obvious that the information wasn't only for me. It was actually for sharing. Money didn't tell me that, but that was obvious.

00:19:07.780 --> 00:19:17.499 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And it was funny, because I was in a situation at the time, I had a Chinese master I was training with, and we weren't really supposed to do things like that. She didn't want me to publish it.

00:19:17.580 --> 00:19:28.840 Sarah McCrum: For reasons that were nothing to do with me, particularly. So, originally, I published it under a different name. I called myself Joy Prospero, which is a beautiful name.

00:19:29.190 --> 00:19:40.840 Sarah McCrum: And I published it, and I didn't tell anybody that I'd published it. I, you know, I really didn't… I had no idea what to do with it, so it took a while for the book to find its place in the world.

00:19:40.970 --> 00:19:50.659 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Gotcha. I'm curious about your own personal experiences around money after you connected with this energy. Like, after feeling

00:19:50.900 --> 00:19:57.359 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And I want to get into, what does it mean, that feeling like, money loves us? What do you mean, money loves us? And it's generous and all that?

00:19:57.500 --> 00:20:04.440 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: What happened for you personally after that? Did anything shift and change, or were things just kind of the same? It just felt good?

00:20:05.780 --> 00:20:24.919 Sarah McCrum: So, the first part, the first couple of years, probably, or yeah, a bit more than a year at least, I was quite in denial of it, and that's partly because I'd been taught some things that made me very scared of channeled information. Like, I was literally scared that if I didn't

00:20:24.920 --> 00:20:31.050 Sarah McCrum: listen properly, I would die, or something like that. This is sort of old Chinese teaching.

00:20:31.500 --> 00:20:38.680 Sarah McCrum: Yes, and then I moved to Australia. I left the whole Chinese master system. My husband and I moved to Australia, and we.

00:20:38.680 --> 00:20:40.380 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Where were you living at the time?

00:20:40.380 --> 00:20:41.529 Sarah McCrum: We were in New Zealand at the.

00:20:41.530 --> 00:20:42.700 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: In New Zealand, okay.

00:20:42.880 --> 00:21:00.950 Sarah McCrum: We moved to New Zealand. We had… within a few… sorry, we moved to Australia. Within a few weeks, we had virtually… we were about to run out of money, we had a tiny bit of money to start with, and I had about two weeks in which to get paying the bills. And I met a psychic, funnily enough, and she said, you've got to use your book, Sarah.

00:21:01.170 --> 00:21:13.640 Sarah McCrum: And I started using the book, and literally, the number of times when, you know, when I couldn't see the rent, I didn't know anyone in Australia, nobody, so I had to start a business out of nothing.

00:21:13.640 --> 00:21:25.640 Sarah McCrum: And it was, you know, it's really challenging to do that, but every time I couldn't see the rent, it was like, okay, what does the book say? Ask. Ask for it. Ask the energy of money.

00:21:25.840 --> 00:21:26.380 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: to…

00:21:26.380 --> 00:21:34.640 Sarah McCrum: to do this, and I learned how to do it, and it worked. So I learned every step of the way through personal experience.

00:21:34.640 --> 00:21:38.139 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Did it surprise you when it worked that very first time?

00:21:39.560 --> 00:21:47.619 Sarah McCrum: it didn't completely surprise me, because I had… because of the work I'd done with Chinese masters, I've seen many, many what we call miracles and remarkable results.

00:21:48.200 --> 00:22:01.749 Sarah McCrum: But what I hadn't seen was that happening for me. So the biggest surprise for me was that I used to get into battles sometimes. It's like, this can't be true. Or what if this isn't true? You know, what if I'm just being stupid or naive here?

00:22:02.260 --> 00:22:12.350 Sarah McCrum: what if I really need to go and get a boring job and do something horrible to make money and get stability? And I would wrestle in my mind, as we do, as we all do at times, with

00:22:12.350 --> 00:22:34.760 Sarah McCrum: you know, is something that's so intangible, is what I've written in this book, really gonna help me? But every time, what I came to is, I don't care if it's true or not, I want it to be true. It's like, I want to live in a world where money is an energy of love, and it works in the way it's described. And every single time I did that, I got a result. Very noticeably.

00:22:34.760 --> 00:22:44.070 Sarah McCrum: And that's how I learned to begin with. It's like, okay, so this energy really responds to us very directly.

00:22:44.260 --> 00:22:54.329 Sarah McCrum: And it responds to us, like, when we shift beyond our traditional view of money, it's like it comes in, it comes in closer. That was very fascinating for me.

00:22:55.220 --> 00:22:56.710 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Wow, wow.

00:22:58.530 --> 00:23:11.160 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So, how would you say what you present here is different from things like The Secret and other books written about abundance? Because this definitely has a unique and its own character to it, doesn't it?

00:23:11.700 --> 00:23:21.779 Sarah McCrum: Yes, it is different. I think, all the books, all the other books, which are fantastic, because they teach us so much about money.

00:23:21.910 --> 00:23:33.949 Sarah McCrum: I think the thing that's fundamentally different from mine is it… is the simple fact that it starts from this… not idea, but I think truth, that money is an energy of love.

00:23:34.350 --> 00:23:35.430 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Hmm.

00:23:35.430 --> 00:23:47.820 Sarah McCrum: It's not a neutral energy. Most people teach that money is energy, and it's a neutral energy, and therefore it's up to you what you do with it, and so if you do good things with it, that's good. If you do bad things with it, that's bad.

00:23:47.820 --> 00:23:49.280 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Here, it says.

00:23:49.380 --> 00:23:51.290 Sarah McCrum: I'm an energy of love.

00:23:51.420 --> 00:23:56.050 Sarah McCrum: And I'm here for everybody. People can still do

00:23:56.050 --> 00:24:12.389 Sarah McCrum: bad things. But what the reason why that's different is because it helps people to resolve that very deep conflict that most of us have inside ourselves, which comes from religion and spiritual traditions, where fundamentally, money is corrupting

00:24:12.500 --> 00:24:17.689 Sarah McCrum: And dangerous. And being poor is virtuous.

00:24:18.110 --> 00:24:19.000 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And makes you into.

00:24:19.000 --> 00:24:36.080 Sarah McCrum: good person, and enables you to go to heaven, enables you to be a good, virtuous monk in the East. So I think it helps to resolve this very deep, unspoken conflict that people experience. I know people who are wealthy and feel so guilty about it.

00:24:36.080 --> 00:24:37.150 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Wow.

00:24:37.440 --> 00:24:38.020 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Wow.

00:24:38.020 --> 00:24:38.640 Sarah McCrum: Yeah.

00:24:38.640 --> 00:24:47.920 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: I have so many questions about wealth and around that, but I noticed in the introduction, your second thing says you can't control money.

00:24:48.360 --> 00:24:49.420 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: What does that mean?

00:24:50.240 --> 00:25:00.779 Sarah McCrum: Well, we all try to control money, which is a very frustrating experience. Money is energy. Money is an aspect of life energy. It's the flow of value.

00:25:00.860 --> 00:25:14.880 Sarah McCrum: Between human beings. And ultimately, it touches into the energy of the flow of value across the universe. It's about exchange of value. Money is very much about value. You can't control life.

00:25:14.980 --> 00:25:33.249 Sarah McCrum: You can't control the flows of life, and money is a part of that. You can't control generosity and abundance, the real thing, not just like, oh, I want abundance, but actually the abundance of life itself that we are a part of. You can't control that. What you can do

00:25:33.250 --> 00:25:35.479 Sarah McCrum: Is align yourself with it.

00:25:35.480 --> 00:25:51.359 Sarah McCrum: You can make friends with it. You can stop fighting it. You can give up on the resistance that comes from all those stories, like good people don't go… poor… rich people don't go to heaven, or whatever it is. Money doesn't grow on trees, the stuff we're very familiar with.

00:25:52.030 --> 00:25:55.920 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So, so… What does money say…

00:25:56.570 --> 00:26:14.509 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: about, like, what is the best way to receive money? Like, everybody would love to have more money in their life because of what money gives them, the resources, the freedom. So, what do we need to do to receive more of it?

00:26:15.940 --> 00:26:24.210 Sarah McCrum: I would say there are… there are four things, really. The first three are… are very simple, not always easy to do. So one is to relax.

00:26:24.440 --> 00:26:30.729 Sarah McCrum: Actually, to relax about money. Even if you don't have enough money, even if you're really in a difficult place.

00:26:30.860 --> 00:26:35.950 Sarah McCrum: Being tense and worried about it closes you off to the flow of energy, literally.

00:26:36.470 --> 00:26:46.289 Sarah McCrum: And actually, the flow of money as well. So worrying never helps you make more money. So, first of all, relax. The next thing the money says all the time in the book is enjoy.

00:26:46.440 --> 00:27:03.610 Sarah McCrum: Enjoy money, enjoy your life, enjoy what you're doing, because it makes you relaxed and open, it makes it much easier for good things to come into your life. Just imagine, if you have a relationship that you enjoy, you're gonna have a much better relationship. If you're stressed and worried all the time in your relationship, it's no good.

00:27:03.870 --> 00:27:05.490 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: The third one is love.

00:27:05.490 --> 00:27:15.570 Sarah McCrum: We've always… I've already mentioned that. But the other piece, you've got relax, enjoy, love, that's the sort of soft, beautiful, more feminine piece, and then clarity. Clarity about what you want.

00:27:16.770 --> 00:27:23.470 Sarah McCrum: That's what dynamically kind of engages the energy and makes everything work.

00:27:24.200 --> 00:27:25.450 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Wow. And then.

00:27:25.450 --> 00:27:31.869 Sarah McCrum: You become receptive to… and if you're clear what you want, and you're receptive, it's much easier for you to experience it.

00:27:31.870 --> 00:27:36.190 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Right, so it sounds like what you're saying, in general, is

00:27:36.670 --> 00:27:56.380 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: I don't want to use the term diligence. Like, you want to raise your energy levels to one that are of a higher frequency, something that's, you know, enjoying life, happy, fulfilled, like, being in that more open space

00:27:56.850 --> 00:28:02.520 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So that then you connect to it on that level, so it can flow to you more naturally.

00:28:03.450 --> 00:28:07.819 Sarah McCrum: It's interesting, I don't usually use the expression higher frequency, because I find it.

00:28:07.820 --> 00:28:08.170 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Yeah.

00:28:08.170 --> 00:28:15.090 Sarah McCrum: people under a lot of pressure. It's like, oh, I've got to get my frequency up. What it really is, is relaxing into being yourself.

00:28:15.250 --> 00:28:35.019 Sarah McCrum: Okay. Relax into enjoyment. It's like drop into enjoyment. You know, even if you're having a horrible time, you can decide to enjoy yourself doing whatever you're doing. Just enjoy washing the dishes, cleaning, whatever it is. Just bring a little enjoyment into your life. Just drop into it. It's much easier than raising your frequency.

00:28:35.020 --> 00:28:38.209 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Yes, yes, yes. I remember one time I heard,

00:28:39.520 --> 00:28:51.690 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Esther Hicks say that, our natural state of being is happy, joyful, loving being, and that when we're not that, it's an active

00:28:51.930 --> 00:29:09.360 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: it's an act of resistance, but it's something active that we're doing. It's like you're holding a cork under water that naturally wants to float, but you're holding it on the bottom of the water, and if you just relax and open your hand, the cork will naturally rise up to the surface.

00:29:09.790 --> 00:29:22.679 Sarah McCrum: Yeah, there's a fundamental well-being, actually, in life, and I teach people how to access that directly, and once you know it, you know it. There's no unknowing it. It's hard work.

00:29:22.990 --> 00:29:33.249 Sarah McCrum: You have to work hard to be unhappy. I understand why. We've all been unhappy, me too. And there are a lot of stories in life that make us unhappy, and…

00:29:33.250 --> 00:29:45.289 Sarah McCrum: make us believe that being unhappy is somehow natural, and how we should feel, but when you really relax into that natural well-being, it's like, oh, this is natural. This is so obvious.

00:29:45.290 --> 00:29:46.180 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Hmm.

00:29:46.180 --> 00:29:49.110 Sarah McCrum: Then you start to realize how hard you work.

00:29:49.800 --> 00:29:51.310 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: to hold…

00:29:51.310 --> 00:29:53.899 Sarah McCrum: Your natural inner state at bay.

00:29:53.900 --> 00:29:54.710 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Right.

00:29:54.750 --> 00:30:04.379 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Right, right. Beautiful, beautiful. Okay, we're going to take our next commercial break. When we come back, I want to ask you about some of the apparent contradictions

00:30:04.380 --> 00:30:15.369 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Around money and wealth. And then, we're gonna… I'm gonna dive back into some of these chapters in the book. I just love the titles of them, so we're gonna do that after we come back from this break, okay?

00:30:16.520 --> 00:30:29.780 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Wonderful. So, everyone, please stay tuned. You're listening to The Conscious Consultant Hour, Awakening Humanity. We're speaking this hour with Sarah McCrum, author of the book, Love, Money, Money Loves You, and we'll be right back in just a moment.

00:32:05.550 --> 00:32:12.050 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So, Sarah, you know, a lot of people get hung up on some apparent contradictions around money.

00:32:13.020 --> 00:32:16.810 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And you're talking about, like, the energy of money is an energy of love.

00:32:17.900 --> 00:32:21.520 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So, naturally, we think that, well…

00:32:21.970 --> 00:32:26.610 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So then, if somebody has more money, they should have more love.

00:32:26.720 --> 00:32:37.260 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Yet sometimes really horrible things are done by people who have millions and billions of dollars beyond it. So how can they have that much money

00:32:37.630 --> 00:32:40.210 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And still do horrible things.

00:32:41.740 --> 00:32:52.930 Sarah McCrum: Horrible people do horrible things. You know, people can have beautiful babies and do horrible things with them. It's not the baby that is horrible, it's the person, it's the…

00:32:53.050 --> 00:33:11.269 Sarah McCrum: it's the person… so we have to first really clearly understand. But there's another question in your question, I think, is also how do horrible people have so much money? Right. Which is also important, I think, to address. What I really learned from money is if

00:33:11.390 --> 00:33:14.989 Sarah McCrum: You know, it's rather like if a guy loves his car.

00:33:15.760 --> 00:33:18.920 Sarah McCrum: He's gonna pay a lot of attention to it, and.

00:33:18.920 --> 00:33:19.300 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: he's gonna.

00:33:19.300 --> 00:33:24.999 Sarah McCrum: do, you know, you see this with people. They polish their cars, and the car's immaculate inside.

00:33:25.650 --> 00:33:37.780 Sarah McCrum: if somebody really loves money, they're really open to it, and they really work on how to be receptive to it. Money's not gonna say, you're a horrible person, I don't come. It's rather like…

00:33:37.910 --> 00:33:40.750 Sarah McCrum: You know, energy is available to everybody.

00:33:40.950 --> 00:33:47.519 Sarah McCrum: And the beauty of that is available to everybody. It's like, it doesn't… babies are not…

00:33:47.910 --> 00:34:03.279 Sarah McCrum: Babies don't say, I'm not going to go to horrible parents. They arrive with horrible parents. So life… life has a generosity built into it, I think it's… that's what life is, but what we do with that, that's our responsibility.

00:34:04.510 --> 00:34:15.670 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Right, right. So, yeah, really, it's not looking at a person as a monolith, that they're all just one thing. Like, they can have love for money, and that…

00:34:15.800 --> 00:34:17.300 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And, and, and still…

00:34:17.300 --> 00:34:26.829 Sarah McCrum: They can kind of love my… well, they can be very… you know, it ties in with your previous question before the break. They're very receptive to money. If you think how many people

00:34:26.880 --> 00:34:42.729 Sarah McCrum: I see this all the time. People who have very little money are actually incredibly unreceptive to money. They make it very difficult for money to come in. It's a hard thing to say, but it is true, so we do need to change if we want to make more money.

00:34:42.739 --> 00:34:45.569 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: What makes people so unreceptive to money?

00:34:46.290 --> 00:35:03.170 Sarah McCrum: Some of it's family background, you know, growing up in a family that does… some people grow up in poor families and say, I never want to repeat this, and they get really interested in money. A lot of people reject money, they say money, you know, money and me, they don't work together, I'm never going to be rich.

00:35:03.170 --> 00:35:09.219 Sarah McCrum: If you say, I'm never going to be rich, to an energy that… it's like you're making a pronouncement about yourself.

00:35:10.060 --> 00:35:23.769 Sarah McCrum: or it doesn't happen for people like me, a lot of self-worth issues, a lot of stories, money doesn't grow on trees, and it's never gonna grow on trees. So we repeat these stories, and we make it our truth.

00:35:23.850 --> 00:35:33.969 Sarah McCrum: But it's not the underlying truth. As we know, there are plenty of people who've come from very challenging backgrounds who change their… they change their story.

00:35:34.070 --> 00:35:36.939 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Yes, yes, completely, completely.

00:35:37.230 --> 00:35:44.039 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So you have a whole chapter in here called Desire for Money, and as I recall, the…

00:35:44.150 --> 00:35:55.609 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: phrase that gets misinterpreted all the time is, it's not money is the root of all evil, it's the desire or the love of money is the root of all evil. Meaning, when we

00:35:55.790 --> 00:36:09.470 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And I think it's not so much about money, but more about what money represents, which is power. So when you put that above everything else, it can cause trouble. But what does money have to say about desire for money?

00:36:10.900 --> 00:36:25.909 Sarah McCrum: Money's really interesting, because as you will know as well, Buddhists especially, you know, the word desire is particularly challenging, and you're supposed to have no attachment and let go of all desires, and this book's very in-your-face about desire.

00:36:25.920 --> 00:36:47.080 Sarah McCrum: So, what I've come to understand is that the natural desires we have as a human being, you know, which might be to buy something, it might be for an experience we want to have in our life, that comes from… really from our soul. You know, the soul arrives in this life. It's a bundle of desire, it's here to have an experience. It's here to have lots and lots of experiences.

00:36:47.080 --> 00:36:53.400 Sarah McCrum: So I think that there's a natural desire We have, for a rich life.

00:36:53.930 --> 00:37:10.150 Sarah McCrum: which is a life full of experiences, which is unique. Each person has different desires. And money encourages us to listen to those desires. I think the desire for money, or the love of money,

00:37:10.150 --> 00:37:16.339 Sarah McCrum: When we put money, and we don't look at value, money's really about value.

00:37:16.560 --> 00:37:29.060 Sarah McCrum: And when we divorce from our values, our fundamental values, and we just seek money, but we don't see that money is a representation of value, that's when we get into trouble.

00:37:30.170 --> 00:37:39.469 Sarah McCrum: And we see that a lot in the world. We see people now who make money out of money with no value provided to anybody whatsoever, except cash for themselves.

00:37:39.470 --> 00:37:40.230 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Hmm. It…

00:37:40.340 --> 00:37:58.670 Sarah McCrum: That's, for me, I'm very… feel very strongly about that, and the book's very strong on value sitting at the center, and service, like, making a contribution to somebody else is what creates the value that enables a healthy exchange here.

00:37:58.990 --> 00:38:06.579 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: The gentleman who I purchased the radio station from 15 years ago, who became a Buddhist monk.

00:38:07.360 --> 00:38:10.570 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: He was telling me about… Wow.

00:38:10.880 --> 00:38:13.010 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: From one year to his next.

00:38:13.220 --> 00:38:20.880 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: His business, like, doubled and tripled or whatever, and the only thing he did differently was he contributed more to charity.

00:38:21.680 --> 00:38:31.860 Sarah McCrum: Yeah, yeah, there are… because… because you begin… it… what that does is it gives a message that you can afford to give.

00:38:32.110 --> 00:38:51.139 Sarah McCrum: It's like… and that actually makes you more receptive to more coming in. But there is a caveat there, because I've seen this happen. There are people who think… and this happens a lot in the kind of new wealth space. If I give everything away, somehow the energy will return to me. And I've seen people make themselves completely broke like that. Yeah.

00:38:51.140 --> 00:38:54.409 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Because it's not about giving everything away, that's kind of silly.

00:38:54.700 --> 00:38:57.999 Sarah McCrum: You've got to actually be generous to yourself.

00:38:58.000 --> 00:38:58.410 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Right.

00:38:58.410 --> 00:39:02.630 Sarah McCrum: If you want to be generous to other people, you can't do generosity as a guilt trip.

00:39:02.630 --> 00:39:04.689 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Right, right.

00:39:04.930 --> 00:39:10.089 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: You have a chapter in here called A Partnership with Money.

00:39:10.280 --> 00:39:11.849 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: What's the partnership?

00:39:13.090 --> 00:39:25.459 Sarah McCrum: A lot of the people who read the book and learn more about it, go deeper into this, find themselves in a friendship with money. It feels like money is this constant presence in their life. I feel the same thing.

00:39:25.460 --> 00:39:35.699 Sarah McCrum: It's an alive presence, it's not a dead thing, it's not a coin or a transaction. These are the representations, but the energy itself is very alive and always moving.

00:39:35.700 --> 00:39:58.260 Sarah McCrum: And so you start to feel like you have this, literally, like, a kind of life partner who doesn't get moody, which is very nice, and is really backing you. It's really on your side, and what you need to do is just figure out, how do I make this partnership work really well for me, for my unique individual values.

00:39:58.260 --> 00:40:03.590 Sarah McCrum: what I stand for in life, what I care about. It's not, how do I become a multimillionaire?

00:40:03.640 --> 00:40:04.170 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Right.

00:40:04.170 --> 00:40:14.250 Sarah McCrum: It's how do I do what I care about? And maybe I need to be a multi-millionaire in order to do that. And maybe that's not my desire. I want to live a simple.

00:40:14.250 --> 00:40:17.290 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Family life. There's no judgment whatsoever.

00:40:17.450 --> 00:40:18.359 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: In any of this.

00:40:19.830 --> 00:40:31.180 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: What does money have to say about flow? Because I hear people also talk about flow a lot, that, you know, it's not about holding on to it, but allowing money to flow through us.

00:40:32.320 --> 00:40:43.199 Sarah McCrum: I think what's important to understand about money is that it is always moving. It is a flow, if you think about it. If you see the grand flows around the planet, so to speak, it's always…

00:40:43.220 --> 00:40:54.489 Sarah McCrum: moving. The… the other thing is important to understand is when we invest, or when we save money, typically, unless we put it in a sock under the bed.

00:40:54.560 --> 00:41:06.510 Sarah McCrum: It's actually always working. So the money, if you invest money, it's working in somebody else's business and providing you a return, so there's lots of flow happening there. If you save money.

00:41:06.570 --> 00:41:12.320 Sarah McCrum: That money is sitting in a… if it's in a bank account, that bank is using your money to…

00:41:12.320 --> 00:41:17.480 Sarah McCrum: In other… it's not sitting in a vault somewhere, it's actually moving and working.

00:41:17.480 --> 00:41:34.359 Sarah McCrum: So money… money flows naturally, so it's not, again, about you have to spend everything you receive. Saving and investing are very legitimate financial activities. But when we understand that money is alive and moving all the time.

00:41:34.830 --> 00:41:43.979 Sarah McCrum: I no longer think when I spend money, oh, I'm poorer now, you know, some money's gone out, I'm poorer, I think, oh, there's money coming, there's always money coming.

00:41:43.980 --> 00:41:45.140 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Hmm,

00:41:45.140 --> 00:41:54.629 Sarah McCrum: it comes and it goes, and I decide where I put it, what, you know, I can divert it into all these different channels and play with it.

00:41:54.630 --> 00:42:14.280 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: I remember years ago, I can't remember who it was, but I remember this woman saying that whenever she spends money, she thinks of it, the dollar bills, as little soldiers going out to do their work in the world, and that eventually they're going to come back to her with all their friends.

00:42:14.560 --> 00:42:24.999 Sarah McCrum: Yeah, it is rather like that. I see them as, like, they're almost like there's little kind of bureaucrats, there's like a little bureaucratic or big organization that sort of makes all of this thing work, yeah.

00:42:25.000 --> 00:42:25.320 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: visibility.

00:42:25.320 --> 00:42:27.120 Sarah McCrum: Beautiful, beautiful picture.

00:42:27.120 --> 00:42:32.229 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: You have a section in here called The Sweetness of Money.

00:42:33.000 --> 00:42:34.369 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: What's that about?

00:42:35.420 --> 00:42:38.390 Sarah McCrum: It's a very sweet energy when you get to know it.

00:42:38.390 --> 00:42:39.090 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: No.

00:42:39.100 --> 00:42:43.090 Sarah McCrum: It's actually really a very, very… Sweet.

00:42:44.280 --> 00:43:02.959 Sarah McCrum: I heard an interview yesterday with somebody who'd won the lottery in the UK, and she was such a beautiful human being, and it had created so many wonderful experiences for her, and there was a generosity, and I could see she really understood and was experiencing the sweetness of.

00:43:02.960 --> 00:43:04.390 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: of money.

00:43:04.530 --> 00:43:09.210 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: You know, you bring up something very interesting, because this is an example so many people use.

00:43:09.460 --> 00:43:13.989 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: That most lottery winners, like, 80% of them.

00:43:14.150 --> 00:43:21.560 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Five years after they win the lottery, they're back at the same level they were, or worse off than they were before.

00:43:22.280 --> 00:43:23.680 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Why is that?

00:43:27.260 --> 00:43:38.629 Sarah McCrum: Okay, so let's just have a look at that, because there's a part of me that's questioning, is it true? I always want to check whether those things are true, but fundamentally, where that… let's just say where that does happen.

00:43:39.290 --> 00:43:42.510 Sarah McCrum: It's because people didn't…

00:43:42.870 --> 00:43:50.959 Sarah McCrum: allow themselves to change. In a way, they didn't allow themselves to recognize the generosity of what had happened to them.

00:43:52.030 --> 00:43:55.470 Sarah McCrum: And step into the generosity of spirit that it takes.

00:43:55.470 --> 00:43:56.150 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: to students.

00:43:56.150 --> 00:44:08.960 Sarah McCrum: with that amount of money. And so they stayed with their old values, old systems, old understanding, and may have felt they didn't deserve it, or, you know, they'll be… everyone will have an individual story.

00:44:09.190 --> 00:44:17.310 Sarah McCrum: But, so the example I saw, she was so appreciative of what had happened, and she used the money so wisely.

00:44:17.470 --> 00:44:25.540 Sarah McCrum: And, they're very well supported by the sound of things in the UK, the lottery winners, in order to make the most of it, yeah.

00:44:25.580 --> 00:44:34.210 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Yeah, I one time heard of a lottery winner. It was a young woman who was in college at the time, and she won the Powerball, which is, like, the big lottery.

00:44:34.400 --> 00:44:37.440 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And… she said that…

00:44:37.570 --> 00:44:46.229 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: She wasn't gonna drop out of college, she was still going to continue and get her degree, and she was taking… and, like, she was gonna use the money to, like, buy a house for her parents.

00:44:46.230 --> 00:45:01.799 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: And then she was investing, like, half the money, or more than half the money, and she's like, I'm gonna save the money, I'm gonna get my degree, I'm gonna go out and get a job, and I'm gonna use it for something more in the future. And I thought that was such an enlightened approach

00:45:01.800 --> 00:45:09.229 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: to winning the lottery, because that's not usually what happens. Usually someone wins the lottery, and they spend, spend, spend, spend, spend, and before they know it, it's all gone.

00:45:09.380 --> 00:45:21.700 Sarah McCrum: Because they're used to their money going. They're used to money coming in. The habit is to spend. I've just now got more to do what I always do with money. And, you know, the whole… the whole story there is money always goes to nothing.

00:45:21.700 --> 00:45:22.910 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Yeah, yeah.

00:45:22.910 --> 00:45:24.420 Sarah McCrum: You know, there's patterns.

00:45:24.420 --> 00:45:28.540 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Right, which is… which is not true, except for some people.

00:45:28.960 --> 00:45:36.959 Sarah McCrum: It's true if you make it true. It's not true if you don't make it true. The student, the college student, decided right from the beginning that that was not going to be her story.

00:45:36.960 --> 00:45:46.100 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: story. Exactly, exactly. Awesome, awesome. Okay, it's time for us to take our last break. When we come back, I just have a couple of more questions about your book.

00:45:47.250 --> 00:45:56.439 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Love money, money loves you, and then we'll finish it up, and we'll let people know how to get in touch with you, okay? So, everyone, please stay tuned, you're listening to…

00:45:57.010 --> 00:46:04.620 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: The Conscious Consultant Hour, Awakening Humanity, and we'll be right back to wrap it up with our guest, Sarah McCrum, in just a moment.

00:47:55.030 --> 00:48:05.630 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Does money have any general messages for the world at large? Is there something that's universal that money really wants people to know that they don't realize?

00:48:06.940 --> 00:48:07.950 Sarah McCrum: Yes.

00:48:08.140 --> 00:48:23.879 Sarah McCrum: There's an evolution going on in our money systems, and money is gradually going to flow more towards people contributing to making the world a better place.

00:48:24.520 --> 00:48:31.299 Sarah McCrum: That's what I really noticed. I think we've been in a period where there was a lot of quite selfish desire for money.

00:48:31.430 --> 00:48:32.040 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Yeah.

00:48:32.040 --> 00:48:45.659 Sarah McCrum: that's shifting. It takes time for these systems to shift, it's not an overnight, but there is a shift in direction around that, and so it's very much encouraging us to think about the world that we would like

00:48:45.840 --> 00:48:54.460 Sarah McCrum: To see, and how we can contribute to that. So it's thinking us to think beyond our own personal sphere.

00:48:55.940 --> 00:48:58.770 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: You work with people individually, right?

00:48:58.990 --> 00:49:01.269 Sarah McCrum: I mostly run groups, I do a lot.

00:49:01.270 --> 00:49:07.300 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Mostly groups, okay. Yeah. So when you have a group, and a group of people coming, and they have

00:49:07.500 --> 00:49:20.740 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: challenges around money, their relationship with money. Are there certain, like, patterns that are very common through most people? Like, is there certain challenges that most people have with money that you see?

00:49:21.270 --> 00:49:27.119 Sarah McCrum: Yeah, I would say the first thing that most people have is just really big issues around self-love.

00:49:27.390 --> 00:49:46.410 Sarah McCrum: And that, you know, that occurs for people who do have money, have a lot of money, and also for people who lack money. Changing your relationship with yourself, actually healing your relationship with yourself, opens up your relationship with everything, including money, because you're not then…

00:49:46.740 --> 00:49:55.200 Sarah McCrum: sharing these kind of subtle messages, like, I don't deserve it, I'm not worth it, I'm a bad person. We have many variations, but it's more like…

00:49:55.200 --> 00:50:07.389 Sarah McCrum: I'm a whole person here, I'm individual, I'm different from anyone else, I'm not… I'm neither special nor not special, I'm me. And what do I want in my life? What am I here for? And it becomes a free…

00:50:07.390 --> 00:50:14.440 Sarah McCrum: Choice, then, rather than this kind of, like, trying to squeeze something out of somebody who feels really bad about themselves.

00:50:14.440 --> 00:50:20.770 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: A lot of people,

00:50:21.840 --> 00:50:41.379 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: have, like, a limit. I remember at seminars years ago, people used to talk about, like, a thermostat. Like, if you grew up in a middle-class household, you're more than likely to be middle class and not really get above that too much. Or if you grew up in a upper class or lower upper class, like, that's where you'd end up.

00:50:41.740 --> 00:50:46.049 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: How can people learn to be more aware of

00:50:46.620 --> 00:50:52.320 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Sort of just what they're used to compared to what they're actually able to have.

00:50:53.890 --> 00:51:00.599 Sarah McCrum: It does require curiosity. Like, if what you're used to is working really well for you, there's no motivation to change.

00:51:00.630 --> 00:51:13.169 Sarah McCrum: But if you're curious about what's possible for you in life, or if you feel like, I'm not really… this isn't… doesn't feel like the life I came here to live, I feel like there's something missing.

00:51:13.170 --> 00:51:33.829 Sarah McCrum: That's… that's the stimulus for curiosity. Once you get curious about money, and about wealth, and about how we create that, so that means about business, fundamentally, about contribution and work and business, once you get curious about that, and also about how to steward wealth, what to do with it, that's very important.

00:51:33.890 --> 00:51:39.960 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: then you're on the journey of learning and growing. So, yeah.

00:51:39.960 --> 00:51:41.600 Sarah McCrum: You need to want it.

00:51:42.030 --> 00:51:49.550 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Yeah, yeah. I noticed you also had in here in your book, a chapter on, What did,

00:51:50.150 --> 00:51:54.309 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Financial… practical advice, financial assessments.

00:51:54.580 --> 00:52:03.059 Sarah McCrum: Yeah, there are some little exercises in the book, which are… they're slightly unconventional, they're not the normal ones that we do, that help you…

00:52:03.270 --> 00:52:18.259 Sarah McCrum: to see where you are, and where… where there's potential for you to grow more. So, they're difficult to explain, but they're interesting exercises to do, because they make you think a little bit out of the box about yourself.

00:52:18.260 --> 00:52:28.929 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Hmm. Okay, great, great. So, if someone's starting on this path, like, they're listening to this conversation, of course, they should go pick up the book, Love Money, and the Money Loves You.

00:52:29.140 --> 00:52:41.720 Sarah McCrum: That's what changes everything, is reading the book, actually. Then it's like, okay, now I have a better understanding of what money is. Now, that's what, you know, then you've got something to be curious about.

00:52:41.880 --> 00:52:42.929 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Right, right.

00:52:42.930 --> 00:52:45.640 Sarah McCrum: Yeah, the book has a very powerful place in this.

00:52:45.640 --> 00:52:50.089 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: So, while… once people order the book and they're waiting for the book to arrive.

00:52:50.210 --> 00:52:57.770 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Is there anything they can do in preparation? Like, what should really be someone's first step In… in…

00:52:57.880 --> 00:53:03.179 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Attempting to change their relationship and cultivate a new relationship with money.

00:53:04.390 --> 00:53:18.170 Sarah McCrum: I actually… you know what I want to say? I want to say, just wait. Anticipate… just wait for the book to come. The reason being that an awful lot of what we do around money is work too hard.

00:53:18.300 --> 00:53:32.559 Sarah McCrum: And I don't want to encourage people to start trying to figure it out when they don't yet know what they're figuring out. You're where you are because of the understanding and the relationship you have with money now. If you want to change it, you need a different understanding of money.

00:53:33.150 --> 00:53:38.859 Sarah McCrum: So I would say wait till the book comes, because the first thing the book's going to show you is that you need to relax about money.

00:53:41.230 --> 00:53:44.890 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Yes, yes, wonderful, wonderful.

00:53:45.140 --> 00:53:52.010 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: You've been… Kind of working with the energy of money for a while now, right?

00:53:52.220 --> 00:53:52.930 Sarah McCrum: Yes.

00:53:53.820 --> 00:53:55.489 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Have you seen…

00:53:55.700 --> 00:54:08.630 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: sort of general shifts and changes since you started working with it, in terms of, like, around people, around attitudes towards money? Like, have you seen a shift in the overall consciousness around money?

00:54:08.940 --> 00:54:12.300 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Yes, yes, there's definitely a shift going on.

00:54:12.300 --> 00:54:15.629 Sarah McCrum: 12, 13 years ago, when I wrote the book.

00:54:15.750 --> 00:54:37.570 Sarah McCrum: was not even easy to talk about lots of these things. The thing… the place where I see it most of all is that I begin to see the businesses coming out that are trying to create new systems of wealth that are serious. They're not just a new way of getting rich quick, but they're trying to look at how we can distribute wealth in a way that works for all of us, not just a few of us.

00:54:37.570 --> 00:54:45.449 Sarah McCrum: These are getting very serious now, and I see that in the grand awakening of human beings, there are more and more people

00:54:45.580 --> 00:54:57.639 Sarah McCrum: curious about their relationship with money, and my book sells itself now, just because people share it wherever they go. So yeah, there's been a huge change, and it's ongoing, and I think it's accelerating.

00:54:57.640 --> 00:55:04.320 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Wow, wonderful, wonderful. So there's… there is a reason to hope for a better future, then, yes?

00:55:04.650 --> 00:55:10.460 Sarah McCrum: Yes, we need to lean into it, for sure. It's not… I would not say that it's assured.

00:55:10.460 --> 00:55:12.840 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: I think, you know, we could take a pretty…

00:55:12.840 --> 00:55:20.030 Sarah McCrum: dark path as humanity, but I definitely see that there's tremendous support.

00:55:20.030 --> 00:55:20.440 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Hmm.

00:55:20.440 --> 00:55:31.380 Sarah McCrum: for taking a path that is benign, that is kind to humanity, is kind and generous to ourselves, and not punishing. So, yeah, absolutely.

00:55:31.690 --> 00:55:41.880 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Wonderful, wonderful. Sarah, it's been a pleasure having you on the show. If people want to learn more about you, get in touch with you, work with you, how would they find you? Where do they find you online?

00:55:42.280 --> 00:55:49.520 Sarah McCrum: The easiest place is to go to my website, which is saramacrum.com, or just look up Sarah McCrum on Google, you'll find me right away.

00:55:49.520 --> 00:56:01.229 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Wonderful, wonderful. So, highly recommended again. The name of the book is Love Money, Money Loves You, available at all major booksellers, correct?

00:56:01.230 --> 00:56:07.140 Sarah McCrum: Yes, and on audio. Most people love the audio, so it's really what… it's on Spotify, it's on Audible.

00:56:07.630 --> 00:56:14.980 Sam Liebowitz | The Conscious Consultant: Oh, wonderful, wonderful. Did you record the audio yourself, or you had someone do it for you? Yeah. Oh, you did it? Oh, so we get to listen to you, and then…

00:56:15.440 --> 00:56:21.020 Sarah McCrum: Yeah, and the transmission of the audio, the actual transmission of energy is strong. People really appreciate.
