2021/06/04 - Getting Your SMB "On Air"

[NEW EPISODE] Getting Your SMB "On Air"

Every SMB has their story to tell...but have they started doing their own podcast to get their voice out there?

According to a blog on MentalHelp.Net (and a memorable Jerry Seinfeld comedy routine), the vast majority of people rank fear of public speaking as number one.

For some people, this means a fear of speaking to large groups.  For others, it means speaking to even a single person, especially if that person has the power to evaluate you.

Doing a podcast seems to be on many SMBs to do lists, yet many businesses either don't have the time, or are deathly afraid, to get their voice out there.  Who can they speak to if they want to get their SMB "On Air?"

Our special guest this week is one of the people your SMB would want to get in touch with ASAP...don't miss it!

Tune in for this pragmatic conversation at TalkRadio.nyc or watch the Facebook Livestream by clicking here.

Show Notes

Segment 1

This week on Always FreyDay Steven Frey is joined by fellow TalkRadio.nyc host Sam Liebowitz. Steven introduces the topic of Small and Medium Businesses (SMB) getting on air and getting their voices out. Sam is not only the executive producer of TalkRadio.nyc but also hosts The Conscious Consultant Hour on Thursdays at 12pm. Sam has experience as an entrepreneur and a healer and shares how public speaking has taken on different forms in his life. Steven identifies the terms differentiation and explains how he let the term guide him.

Segment 2

Steven introduces Sam's book Everyday Awakening and how he wished he would have read it when he began his entrepreneurial journey. Sam goes into the spiritual significance his book holds and how it connects to each of the seven points made in the books. Sam puts emphasis on different chakras that he has connected his book to. He connects esoteric points of the chakras to the reality of life and business. Sam and Steven talk about the community effort and how it is more enjoyable when there is a community to confide in. The two focus on how having an authentic voice will make stronger connections because it reminds people that they are not alone.

Segment 3

The hard part of getting SMB on air is getting started. Sam brings up that by joining a network it relieves a burden so the SMB owners can focus on the important aspects. Steven tells how business owners focus on their passion and that is why having a community to back them is important. Sam emphasizes how although he runs a small business it is the quality of production he focuses on and going virtual made him apprehensive.

Segment 4

Steven shares that he learned that you have to strive for progress not success. Sam adds it is authenticity that attracts people, by being your most authentic self it feels more real and is more enjoyable for both the viewer and the broadcaster. The wrap up by discussing learning to not be afraid of taking a different perspective.

00:06:22.620 --> 00:06:33.120 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Thank you so much Steve such a pleasure, you know that the bio you read is one I worked on with the branding specialist a couple of years ago well last year actually year before that.

00:06:33.540 --> 00:06:43.800 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And, and you know it's so funny because it's not the bio I usually share with people when they want my bio is much simpler one but as you're reading it i'm listening to wow that's like pretty good.

00:06:44.520 --> 00:06:53.670 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): What I told you, I was like i'm sorry i'm gonna read this whole thing because it was too good to ignore Sam lay it on us, I know you've had a crazy road of experience.

00:06:53.940 --> 00:06:58.590 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): But give us a couple minutes behind how you got to this point because you know lending.

00:06:58.770 --> 00:07:08.160 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): You know, getting your voice out there, getting the story out there, you know i'm really big on that and I think you and the team do such a great job with the network yeah tell us all how you got to this point.

00:07:08.730 --> 00:07:14.670 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Well it's kind of funny because my background way back when is really in technology.

00:07:15.300 --> 00:07:22.890 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But I did develop a love of public speaking at a young age, because when I was in college, a friend of mine encouraged me to come over and check out.

00:07:23.160 --> 00:07:31.650 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: The speech and debate team, so I went over to one of the meetings and I just love the coach is this wonderful Italian guy friend G or down oh.

00:07:32.130 --> 00:07:46.320 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Who, you know did chubby Gray haired but jolly and just he's such a wonderful human being, and so it encouraged me, and so I I went and I participated in some.

00:07:47.250 --> 00:07:59.370 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Events and and it's like my I remember the first speech I gave I had everything written down on index cards and my handwriting is awful and I couldn't even read what they wrote, and it was the worst speech I ever gave in my life.

00:08:00.300 --> 00:08:08.970 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And that's the good news because after that you know with practice things just get better and better and better that's why i've said, and I think I said it to you Steve it's like.

00:08:09.240 --> 00:08:17.820 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: If you want to do a podcast or a radio show or anything that involves public speaking just get started, because the first time you do it it's going to be the worst time.

00:08:18.810 --> 00:08:24.000 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But then I my my major in college was computer science, I also had a major in fine art.

00:08:24.840 --> 00:08:36.600 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But I ended up starting to work before I graduated and I again being in New York City, where do you go in the financial services industry, so I started off working for a bank chemical bank.

00:08:37.230 --> 00:08:45.180 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And I was actually just a Teller I was just a you know counting money all day long and I got really good at it, I can count money really fast.

00:08:49.380 --> 00:08:58.260 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But then I when I graduated I job posted into a department that supported the cash management, so I was working with like VP.

00:08:58.800 --> 00:09:06.090 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And directors of Finance of like major fortune 500 companies and when they came out with the new micro computer based products.

00:09:06.840 --> 00:09:14.790 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Because I was experienced with them from college I learned it really quick and then they started sending me out to train people on how to use this stuff.

00:09:15.210 --> 00:09:20.190 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Now I started training people on how to use computers, who had no computer background at all.

00:09:20.640 --> 00:09:29.790 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And so I found ways to sort of take this very technical knowledge and translate it down into plain English, so they could get it, but they can understand just.

00:09:30.060 --> 00:09:38.550 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: The basic concept of how a computer works input and output and peripherals and and and you know keyboard and a printer and you know all this stuff.

00:09:39.150 --> 00:09:54.180 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And I found it's really funny because now i've studied all these esoteric high concepts and stuff but that that ability that I developed early on, of translating things down into easy practical.

00:09:55.230 --> 00:10:08.040 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know steps to follow it's it says stayed with me this whole time and so for about the first nine years of my career, I worked for different banks, financial institutions even a trade association.

00:10:08.580 --> 00:10:21.180 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And, and then I was just like you know what i'm working pretty hard and my paycheck does not reflect the difference and how hard they work, compared to the guy in the cubicle next to me, so I decided to become a consultant and and I.

00:10:21.750 --> 00:10:23.910 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Actually, joined a friend of mine someone I knew.

00:10:24.420 --> 00:10:31.830 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: From an organization that was a member of the national space society and someone said hey Sam talked to the guy john who does our newsletter he's a consultant.

00:10:32.160 --> 00:10:42.090 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So I met with him started working with him part time for like a year, until a big enough project came along, and then I could leave my job and became a consultant full time.

00:10:43.110 --> 00:10:48.390 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And then from there it's just I kept starting new businesses, mostly with partners.

00:10:49.410 --> 00:11:03.270 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: We got into Japanese animation eventually we started a publishing company that got bought out by a distributor then we started another Japanese animation publishing house left that got into aerospace like that got into real estate.

00:11:03.750 --> 00:11:09.780 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And then about 11 years ago I met a guy at a party and and.

00:11:10.590 --> 00:11:18.930 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: He was like So what do you do and he's like oh i'm an acupuncturist and i'm like oh that's kind of cool and he's in his next breath he goes but.

00:11:19.260 --> 00:11:28.530 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I decided to become a Buddhist monk and i'm selling off all my worldly goods i'm like oh wow that's different i'm like wow have you sold your business yet and he's like no not yet, but i'm talking to some people.

00:11:28.980 --> 00:11:34.830 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So then i'm like okay and we're talking a little bit more, and he says, oh yeah and I started this Internet radio station and i'm like.

00:11:35.310 --> 00:11:39.660 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Wait a minute this sounds a little familiar what's your name again and he says, Giorgio repented and i'm like.

00:11:40.290 --> 00:11:48.600 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I know who you are because my friend Larry sharpe does a radio show on your network and he's told me about you, but he's never put us together there, he is standing in front of me.

00:11:49.500 --> 00:11:56.760 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: A week later, we meet we have this two and a half hour conversation and I kind of jokingly by the end of the conversation say.

00:11:57.060 --> 00:12:03.390 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: This is such a great deals like getting two businesses for the price of one i'm like if I can't find someone to buy your business i'll buy it myself.

00:12:03.750 --> 00:12:09.060 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And we both kind of chuckle about it because i'm not an acupuncturist I had no desire to be an acupuncturist.

00:12:09.630 --> 00:12:13.680 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But that night I go home to talk to my wife and I tell her the whole thing and she's like.

00:12:14.190 --> 00:12:19.950 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Forget helping them to sell his business i'm like really and I was kind of crestfallen because I thought oh it's such a great opportunity.

00:12:20.490 --> 00:12:27.630 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: If she goes yeah she goes, you know after our real estate debacle We may not have much money but we may as well put it into a business it's actually making money.

00:12:28.140 --> 00:12:43.710 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Like oh Oh, what a great idea yeah let's do that and such I took over the network and and have rebranded several times tweak the business model and i'm so thrilled because it is now.

00:12:44.220 --> 00:12:55.770 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: At the largest point in terms of hosts and shows, and where we're going it's may have taken 11 years to get here but i'm completely thrilled at where we're at now.

00:12:56.670 --> 00:12:58.260 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): What what a story I.

00:12:59.400 --> 00:13:04.950 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): I can't I have to agree like i'm thrilled that you guys are where you are today i'm thrilled to be a part of it.

00:13:05.250 --> 00:13:10.710 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): And it's it's been an absolute blast for me, so I hope it's been a blast for you, I hope, it's been a blast for listeners.

00:13:11.070 --> 00:13:17.310 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Before we take a break i'm going to sit out by the fire pit with you for just a second and and talk a little bit just context for the day.

00:13:17.640 --> 00:13:25.410 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): I started out the year with two big words that I was trying to live by and I i'm still kind of on these words of differentiation and gamification.

00:13:25.680 --> 00:13:28.800 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): If i'm not having fun i'm not making money type of discussion, but.

00:13:29.100 --> 00:13:38.670 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): You know the differentiation part you know doing a live weekly talk show is a differentiator there's no different there's no doubt about it, making appearances and telling your story and getting it out there.

00:13:39.300 --> 00:13:47.460 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): I my personal awakenings around the networking power and just the idea of using your voice addressing the number one fear of most people.

00:13:47.670 --> 00:13:58.950 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): The benefits are exponential, including the ability to differentiate have fun and create multiple areas of content engagement it's like it it's like everything all in one it's the best of every world there is.

00:13:59.880 --> 00:14:06.390 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): But then In addition I just came off of a virtual conference with with a financial planners association out out West actually.

00:14:06.780 --> 00:14:18.180 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): And the topics of succession growth and resilience kept coming up over and over again succession baby boomers 10,000 retiring a day growth everybody wants growth, but especially nowadays with.

00:14:18.450 --> 00:14:22.560 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): You know a lot of the shifting in generation, a lot of millennials gen Z like really trying to.

00:14:23.550 --> 00:14:29.190 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Take take the world by storm and start businesses and grow them quickly and you'll get a lot of attention about it.

00:14:30.030 --> 00:14:36.960 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Also, has been thinking a lot, the last few days about just being responsive over reaction and I know I talked to you a little bit about that.

00:14:37.200 --> 00:14:46.950 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): You know responses, the first part of responsibility and it comes from a perspective of like really having emotional intelligence and a nice engineered approach great process with the right people.

00:14:47.190 --> 00:14:55.200 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Instead of an emotional reaction in the heat of the moment, and you know just to sum that up real quick if you can't bring yourself to address the number one fear.

00:14:55.590 --> 00:15:08.040 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): You can still record audio video of your specific story one minute three minute five minutes work on your elevator pitch whatever as my old friend Jeff bloomfield said when you autographed copy of my copy of his book story based selling.

00:15:08.520 --> 00:15:21.030 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): dude what's your story go tell it and I think that's that's a big one for us we're going to take a quick break but we'll be right back with Sam leibowitz executive producer of talk radio dot nyc stay with us.

00:18:17.670 --> 00:18:24.990 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Before we dive into it, I just want to bring up your book which I finally read I which I keep telling you I should have read it, when I first got it.

00:18:25.320 --> 00:18:32.430 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Because it would have saved me a whole bunch of pain and discussion in the last couple of months, but everything that I was looking for was basically in here.

00:18:33.030 --> 00:18:39.000 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): So everyday awakening you are more powerful than you know phenomenal read from Sam.

00:18:39.990 --> 00:18:48.540 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): You know if you guys are looking to be uplifted in a moment to reset and come back to Center a companion guide for a peaceful state of mind and more, this is it.

00:18:48.900 --> 00:19:01.920 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): A Sam to talk to us a little bit about you know before we get into the method behind all of your madness, the methods that you got into in this book, because it really spoke to me so that give us a little bit on this.

00:19:03.090 --> 00:19:14.010 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So let me just talk about the method for a minute of how I wrote the book because I didn't just sit down with the intention of writing a book like this wasn't going to be my first book, it was going to be a different one.

00:19:14.610 --> 00:19:21.930 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But what I what had happened was because of the newsletter that we put out every week for the network.

00:19:22.770 --> 00:19:30.000 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Just to add some extra content i'd write a blog every week and actually in the beginning, we were doing it twice a week so just writing two blogs, a week.

00:19:30.600 --> 00:19:39.390 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And then I like looked back over and especially over the last couple of years I kept getting feedback from people like Oh, this was the perfect blog for me to read today oh this.

00:19:39.600 --> 00:19:43.860 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Really, you know I so relate to what you talked about today hey you should really publish these.

00:19:44.460 --> 00:19:53.040 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And so I really at the beginning of the last year was sort of at the point where like I need to come out with a book this year.

00:19:53.700 --> 00:20:00.930 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I have all this material why don't I take it, and do something with it, so I hired a professional editor to help me with.

00:20:01.170 --> 00:20:11.220 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know, tightening it up selecting out, I mean i'd hundreds of blog posts and and that would have made a ridiculously thick book, so we pulled out 126 of really the best ones.

00:20:11.490 --> 00:20:20.040 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And was kind of a collaboration between me and my editor stephanie who was wonderful and and and then it was like figuring out how do we organize it.

00:20:20.520 --> 00:20:28.170 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And then we organized into seven major chapters and each one has a section, and they have 18 little sections per chapter.

00:20:28.740 --> 00:20:41.220 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And and they're nice short like five minute reads that you don't have to even read it in order you can just like some through it, because they're not organized chronologically you don't have to start on page one and go to page.

00:20:41.490 --> 00:20:52.350 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know 200 if you can like just flip it open to a random page and there will be a message for you probably fairly related to what you're dealing with at that particular time.

00:20:53.040 --> 00:21:00.840 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): I actually I really loved that about the book and thank you for clarifying exactly what the hundred and 26 different points for that was a question of mine so.

00:21:01.650 --> 00:21:10.440 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): But the seven different categories that you broke the book into really spoke to me, so it, you know, and I do i'm you know i'm a big fan of the process, so things in their kind of.

00:21:10.920 --> 00:21:24.810 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): proper order you know you started with foundation then growth, then, will then relationships than truth vision and finally world talk to us a little bit about that.

00:21:25.590 --> 00:21:36.090 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So when I was trying to figure out how to organize all this, I said to my editor you know because i'm a big believer in numerology and the sort of sacredness around numerology.

00:21:36.510 --> 00:21:42.390 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So, like to me seven and 12 or two numbers that are very have a lot of energy around them.

00:21:42.870 --> 00:21:54.030 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And so, she said 12 is probably too many look let's do seven if you want to do one between the two and seven is the seven chakras which are energy centers it's comes from.

00:21:54.420 --> 00:22:03.930 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Well, this little discussion around it, but I mean it's an Indian Hindu based idea, though, it can also be Chinese and hours.

00:22:04.410 --> 00:22:15.720 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But the seven chakras or seven energy centers that are located in the body, the first one is the root, which is our foundation and then next to that is the sacred Chakra which is you know, like.

00:22:16.650 --> 00:22:26.640 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: The two inches below the belly button and then the solar plexus Chakra which is root the heart Chakra the throat Chakra the third eye Chakra and then the Crown Chakra.

00:22:27.180 --> 00:22:39.450 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Now, the thing is is I basically use them as organizing principles, but the energy around them so it's it's it's like foundational stuff which is.

00:22:41.580 --> 00:22:42.630 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: survival.

00:22:43.890 --> 00:22:54.720 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know, food, shelter, clothing, you know the basics of what we need that's the route that the sacred shocker is about then growth creativity reproduction sex passion.

00:22:55.380 --> 00:23:05.550 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Then the solar plexus Chakra is about personal will and organization it's sort of how we feel about ourselves, and this organizing principle for our life.

00:23:06.150 --> 00:23:12.210 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Our heart Chakra is all about connection and community and our relationship to other people.

00:23:12.690 --> 00:23:23.520 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: The throat Chakra is about speaking your truth, not just about truth but about us and Nancy eating speaking our truth or vibration, the energy we give out the third eye Chakra.

00:23:23.820 --> 00:23:32.640 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: which a lot of people consider it's like our psychic abilities and stuff but it's our ability to see clearly everything and so that's about vision.

00:23:32.910 --> 00:23:38.670 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But it's about a broader vision it's about a vision that transcends just physically, what we see.

00:23:39.060 --> 00:23:49.290 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And then the Crown Chakra is our connection to all that is it's the connection to the world around us to spirit to our imagination to our inspiration.

00:23:49.890 --> 00:24:02.250 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And, and so you can look at things things in a very esoteric manner, but you can also look at them from a very practical and that's what I like to do is say okay here's this very esoteric concept of shocker is.

00:24:02.670 --> 00:24:08.130 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: let's relate it to something practical day to day that anybody can use in their life.

00:24:08.970 --> 00:24:20.550 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): I love it and it speaks to a lot of people on an individual level and sure, but on the small, medium sized business world side of things, I was very moved by the way you set up this book.

00:24:20.850 --> 00:24:25.680 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Because you added the seven categories right relationships falls right in the middle.

00:24:26.220 --> 00:24:32.580 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): And I do feel like you know, being the people first guy that I am first i'm like Oh, maybe that should come first, but.

00:24:33.000 --> 00:24:42.750 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): It is the glue that really holds all of this together if you're a small, medium sized business owner, the foundation growth in will is a lot of how you get started, and how you keep things moving.

00:24:43.260 --> 00:24:52.770 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Exactly because you can relate them all to business, the foundation it's like getting started you got to be able to pay your bills keep the lights on, keep the doors open.

00:24:53.190 --> 00:24:55.350 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Then it's like how are you going to grow that.

00:24:55.560 --> 00:25:02.310 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Business then it's it's it's you know how are you organizing your business, because as you're growing, you have to have an org chart you have to.

00:25:02.760 --> 00:25:10.080 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: put people in different positions, then it's about people it's about your employees your customers, how you relate to the world.

00:25:10.500 --> 00:25:16.740 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Then, its throat it's all about speaking your truth it's about communication it's about the vision getting it out there.

00:25:17.280 --> 00:25:25.110 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Right, the third eye about vision it's like what's the long term vision what's the greater vision for the company, you know what's its purpose in the world and then.

00:25:25.380 --> 00:25:38.250 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: The crown it's like about connection to all around us, how are we contributing giving back, how is the business going to survive past the current generation that's running the business it's all very practically related to business.

00:25:38.670 --> 00:25:41.580 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): So if you let me philosophize with you for just a moment here.

00:25:42.150 --> 00:25:49.260 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): i'm you know the vision and world peace at the end, when I was you know looking through all of this, and you know really taking it to heart.

00:25:49.650 --> 00:25:56.400 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): You know I felt a lot of similarity to some of my discussions out there were business owners and managers that I that I worked with.

00:25:56.910 --> 00:26:08.130 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): You know where they're constantly fixated on product and like delusions of grandeur and money and all kinds of things where that's that's kind of what they're so fixated on.

00:26:08.520 --> 00:26:19.950 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): And they forget about the first five steps that you have a foundation growth will relationships truth vision and go before vision immoral and the way that you put it with the throat Chakra as far as truth.

00:26:21.630 --> 00:26:32.940 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): If we just talked about giving your SMB voice, which is something that I love to do here it's something that you love to do and it's something that you know you've made a great business and a great community, if you will here.

00:26:33.840 --> 00:26:46.770 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): that's been one of my biggest differentiating awakenings as of late is if you're willing to take on the number one fear of people around the world you'll have so much benefit and so much excitement and so much fun.

00:26:49.230 --> 00:26:51.660 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): I don't know it's everyone's got their story to tell.

00:26:51.960 --> 00:27:05.940 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And, and I really feel that with the network that one of the biggest distinguishing factors is the Community aspect of bringing people together of getting the different.

00:27:07.230 --> 00:27:14.160 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: hosts to support each other and shout each other out like i'm looking at the Facebook live right now and Tommy to me so as the show right before you.

00:27:14.370 --> 00:27:23.280 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: shouting us out, and you know talking about so good, and then you did the same thing on his show and it's those that kind of support that kind of community effort.

00:27:23.880 --> 00:27:32.130 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: is really something that i've always i've always create an anything that i've gotten involved with over the years, but bringing people together.

00:27:32.400 --> 00:27:43.470 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So then it's like you don't have to do things all on your own you don't have to be like a lone voice in the woods shouting nobody's listening to now it's a Community it's a group of people who.

00:27:43.860 --> 00:27:54.390 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know, have all different aspects are talking about different things, but we're all about being in service, and this is why, like one of our one of our tag lines is professional serving community.

00:27:54.780 --> 00:28:06.420 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And that's what we're here to do is to serve our audience to serve people but we're not doing it on our own we're doing it with each other and isn't it always more fun when you do something with other people.

00:28:06.720 --> 00:28:15.300 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): 100% i've always been like I always need noise and community in my life, and you know I love my boy Tommy do to cut through all the static join Tommy it is addict.

00:28:15.750 --> 00:28:20.130 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): You can go exclusively in the basement that's where my little studio is in the basement so opposite of.

00:28:21.060 --> 00:28:27.990 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): What a you know, going back to last year, like when the pandemic was first getting started, you had written a blog on may 5.

00:28:28.800 --> 00:28:37.380 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): That said, the world needs to hear our voice, now more than ever before and I I I couldn't agree more.

00:28:37.830 --> 00:28:44.220 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): And when I was at this conference with the financial planners association last week, you know, obviously there's questions floating around about.

00:28:44.430 --> 00:28:49.200 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): What are you guys doing a little differently now what's your growth ideas we are we got to figure things out it's.

00:28:49.710 --> 00:29:02.910 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): weird it's weird it has been weird it might be weird getting things back to work, and the biggest commentary I could I could give them was every business i've worked with has their story don't be afraid to use your voice there's unbelievable things that come from using your voice.

00:29:03.450 --> 00:29:13.020 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know now, I would just add one more word into that that that text that context which is the world needs to hear you're our.

00:29:13.080 --> 00:29:14.040 authentic.

00:29:15.240 --> 00:29:26.310 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Because people need to hear like that we're going through struggles, just like them that we're having challenges the same way, they are that they want to an.

00:29:26.640 --> 00:29:32.850 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: end the reason why the world needs to hear our voice is because, by us having the courage.

00:29:33.300 --> 00:29:45.510 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And the bravery to put ourselves out there and to say the things that we feel called to say we then live as an example, so they can go out there.

00:29:45.810 --> 00:29:56.460 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And and share their voice, because people are looking to hear like that they're not alone in this craziness that we're all in the middle of and and now yeah we're coming out of the pandemic.

00:29:56.910 --> 00:30:06.570 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But the world is still changing faster than ever before, a lot of people are having a very hard time with that whole industries are being disrupted and change.

00:30:07.080 --> 00:30:17.130 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And that's you know it can be a great thing it's a wonderful opportunity and at the same time, it can cause a lot of stress it can be very challenging for people to deal with that.

00:30:17.550 --> 00:30:27.990 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Absolutely, the only constant is change we're going to talk more about that in just a minute we'll be right back with the great Oz behind the curtain of always Friday and talk radio dot nyc Sam leibowitz stay with us.

00:33:16.860 --> 00:33:19.170 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Welcome back to always Friday with me Stephen fry your.

00:33:19.170 --> 00:33:28.140 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): SMB guy we're talking with the man, the myth, the legend the man with a voice for radio and a face for Hollywood behind the curtain of talk radio dot nyc.

00:33:28.440 --> 00:33:36.570 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Sam leibowitz executive producer and host of the conscious consultant our Sam I want to dive a little bit into the madness, we were talking.

00:33:37.050 --> 00:33:46.920 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Just now about the Community feeling that we've we've created here and just to go back to that for a second part of the madness that i've personally seen out there, as it relates to.

00:33:47.190 --> 00:34:01.650 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Getting SMEs on air and getting people's voices out there and the way that we've been doing it yeah there's there's a lot of different ways of getting it started but it's you got to get it started it's kind of like.

00:34:02.430 --> 00:34:04.440 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Well, and that's the thing like.

00:34:04.680 --> 00:34:21.990 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: A lot of us are busy busy professionals like yourself me Tommy Graham Jeremiah you know we're all busy professionals and when you're busy you want to do more stuff, but if you do trying to do everything by yourself, you never going to get it off the ground.

00:34:22.230 --> 00:34:30.390 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: yeah and so it's so interesting how both of you and Tommy and other people who have come to the station over the last year.

00:34:31.050 --> 00:34:36.840 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: it's like you all were like yeah I wanted to do something like this, but I just couldn't get it off the ground myself.

00:34:37.260 --> 00:34:44.130 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But by hiring a network or joining a network where there's support, and we have production assistants and producers.

00:34:44.580 --> 00:34:54.510 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: That help with all of that now it's like it relieves this huge burden and makes it so easy for you to come on and just show up and just focus on the part that.

00:34:54.840 --> 00:35:10.950 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: that's really your specialty, which is the content to people and everything else, and also on the Community cup two things I want to say in the Community aspect, first, I see pat duckworth on the Facebook live, who is will be our first international host on the network.

00:35:10.980 --> 00:35:17.730 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Out of UK she's going to be joining us June 24 with her show hot women rock.

00:35:18.900 --> 00:35:33.540 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And she's all about women's health in the workplace and otherwise i'm really, really thrilled to have her join us hey you go from from across the pond, as they say, and and actually if you go back to my logo for the conscious consultant.

00:35:34.350 --> 00:35:35.130 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): I love it, by the way.

00:35:35.670 --> 00:35:43.410 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: My logo and it's an homage to Dr strange because I love Dr strange because he's a superhero but he's a magician he's mystical.

00:35:43.770 --> 00:35:45.300 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: that's in so it's it's.

00:35:46.320 --> 00:35:53.820 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: This logo comes from a former host of the network, Michael dolce who used to do a show where the secrets of the Sire.

00:35:54.570 --> 00:36:03.360 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And so I said to him, because you know, he was doing the show all around comic books and pop culture and the movies, and the TV shows, with all the marvel comics coming out.

00:36:03.870 --> 00:36:20.040 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And so I just loved like how how like comic books were such a a basic way or an approachable way to express sometimes very high esoteric ideas and these higher ideals.

00:36:20.610 --> 00:36:31.590 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And so I thought you know would be cool to have a logo that's based on like a comic book character, but obviously I can't like take an actual comic carry so there's then Michael I love Dr strange, can you make.

00:36:31.980 --> 00:36:42.480 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: A doctor strange logo for me that's kind of looks like me guy with glasses, but like in a business suit but with the Cape and you know, and he came up with the idea of the Crystal and everything.

00:36:42.780 --> 00:36:51.900 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And so I love this logo because it's the embodiment of what I try and do, which is bring like esoteric stuff.

00:36:52.410 --> 00:37:09.270 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: into practical day to day stuff fat conserve business owners professionals and people who are looking for something different, and are open, because they realized, like the same old stuff that they've heard their whole life just isn't working for them anymore.

00:37:11.160 --> 00:37:18.300 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): So first things first you need to hook me up with Michael adult chicks I do have a comic book concept for a potential logo rebranding for myself.

00:37:19.110 --> 00:37:23.010 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Okay now back to the the madness side of things and getting started.

00:37:23.340 --> 00:37:31.500 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): You kind of like you were saying anybody can do a podcast these days anybody can record themselves, and I would urge people to do it, especially if they've.

00:37:31.770 --> 00:37:36.360 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): they've kind of had struggled with the idea of public speaking and trying to get really get it out there.

00:37:36.720 --> 00:37:39.090 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): But you know back to the Community feeling, you know what.

00:37:39.390 --> 00:37:46.560 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): worked on 115 shows on the network and all the different groups that were that were that we all get to hang out with on the monthly host meetings that you do.

00:37:46.800 --> 00:37:54.090 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): I mean part of the madness that you must deal with is having you know crazy host like me on your network But aside from that.

00:37:54.660 --> 00:38:08.250 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): You know the feeling of Community here like there's, especially on Fridays that's why I get so excited to you know, give a quick shout out to everybody who's on the same day as me, because this is all like fairly awesome small, medium sized business entrepreneurial focus that's.

00:38:09.030 --> 00:38:14.820 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Right yeah yes, you you you pay for services which you guys do a hell of a job with, I have to say.

00:38:15.330 --> 00:38:18.810 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): You know you're paid for services and time slot and and all of that.

00:38:19.290 --> 00:38:22.830 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): But you know you again it's exactly like you said.

00:38:23.220 --> 00:38:30.720 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): business owners, you know they focus on their passion that's why they go into business like they don't they don't really go into business because they like doing.

00:38:30.900 --> 00:38:39.420 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): You know payroll and dealing with employees and group benefits and all the stuff that i've dealt with, for the past 20 years they go into business for their passion.

00:38:39.870 --> 00:38:49.200 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): And when they tell their story, at least if I lined up any of them I can think of like even if they're all five in the same industry, they all can't wait to tell you about their passion and their story.

00:38:49.800 --> 00:38:56.340 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): So help really helping the folks get it out there and getting them off the schneid, so to speak, in the sales world.

00:38:56.490 --> 00:39:02.010 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: it's something I learned a long time ago, like any successful business person.

00:39:03.120 --> 00:39:07.980 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: pays professionals pays other people to do the things that they're not good at.

00:39:08.490 --> 00:39:16.530 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So, and one of the things like when I took over the network, one of the things in Giorgio instilled upon me was quality was audio quality.

00:39:17.040 --> 00:39:23.670 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: That that because we're a small network and I don't have huge budgets to compete with some of the bigger networks out there.

00:39:24.060 --> 00:39:36.780 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: The quality of what we did was always very important, which is why for so many years, we always did our shows in studio with professional microphones mixers condenses the whole bit.

00:39:37.200 --> 00:39:49.350 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And I never went to a virtual option, because frankly they socked the audio quality wasn't good that the Internet connection wasn't good like I remember the days when everybody wanted to Skype in Oh, can I just do it over Skype.

00:39:49.650 --> 00:40:02.490 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And had be like no because it sucks and it wasn't until um i've been using zoom for a few years as a participant, and then, when the locked and and then.

00:40:03.240 --> 00:40:16.470 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: In January last year before the pandemic hit I integrated zoom into our production system, because you know, as we all do now, I was doing Facebook live with my interviews, but with the audio system.

00:40:17.070 --> 00:40:27.030 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: If someone was coming in calling in I could only get their audio on I couldn't get their video on so I wanted to have their video when I was interviewing people, so I integrated zoom.

00:40:27.390 --> 00:40:35.700 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And then I had this one woman who I know who was local to New York City, but, at the time of her interview, she was back home visiting her family in Bangladesh.

00:40:36.300 --> 00:40:44.700 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And when we did the interview the audio quality was phenomenal she sounded like she was next door so was after that I was like.

00:40:45.090 --> 00:40:57.780 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Yes, zoom is like not bad, I think I could deal with this and then the lockdown happened and it was just like Okay, I guess everybody's going virtual so I threw everybody up on zoom and it worked really well.

00:40:58.230 --> 00:41:08.040 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And, and again in the past, I had a resistance to this kind of thing, but then, when I didn't resist what the reality of the Environment was so I had to.

00:41:08.310 --> 00:41:19.410 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Literally transform my business from an in person business to a virtual business literally over a weekend I remember that Friday afternoon Jeremiah with last show, at the time.

00:41:19.740 --> 00:41:28.770 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And he finished his show I posted the shows I backed up the hard drive i'd looked around the office put everything I could think of that I would need into my knapsack.

00:41:29.070 --> 00:41:41.910 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: it's like don't know when i'll be back and left and then Friday night started trying to figure out from home like how do I integrate stuff how do I get the music and the commercials playing and figure all the technology out.

00:41:42.420 --> 00:41:53.640 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And then, at the time, Tuesday night was our first show with a week and by Tuesday night we were up and running and, of course, in the beginning zoom was having some challenges, because of so many people going on it.

00:41:54.060 --> 00:42:01.020 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But it went relatively well we had some challenges with some of the Facebook videos now and then, but it all worked.

00:42:01.530 --> 00:42:09.720 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And now it's like by and one of the things I never realized is by going virtual it's opened up the network to such a huge market.

00:42:09.960 --> 00:42:18.570 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: That I can have a woman in the UK coming on the network and doing a show with us, I mean right now even our current shows you're doing your show from Jersey Tommy does is from long island.

00:42:18.960 --> 00:42:22.590 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Dr Reverend Dr carolyn Curry does her show from Connecticut.

00:42:23.460 --> 00:42:37.650 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Kevin barbero is doing his show from South Carolina I mean we're literally all over the place, which I don't really have a problem with being talk radio New York City, because anyone who's in New York City native knows that New York City is the Center of the universe so it's like.

00:42:37.680 --> 00:42:39.720 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Okay, to have people from all over the place.

00:42:40.770 --> 00:42:46.020 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): I have concert tickets at the beacon, in a few weeks, can I come in and then come to the studio vaccinated.

00:42:47.040 --> 00:42:49.590 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Okay me too well depends on the day but.

00:42:49.620 --> 00:42:58.950 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: yeah we let me know we can arrange something that day I love it they actually the where we were located where the business was located when I first took it over.

00:42:59.460 --> 00:43:06.870 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: With for eight years, we were on 72nd street between Columbus and Amsterdam right around the corner from the beacon I used to walk past it all the time.

00:43:07.230 --> 00:43:16.860 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Yes, yes, what we'll talk more music in just a few moments, but you know the the the Community of the network, you know, going back to that for just a second.

00:43:17.460 --> 00:43:23.820 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): It is phenomenal like I know Eric sarver you know Tuesday night five 5pm employment law today.

00:43:24.120 --> 00:43:32.400 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): You know I work with tons of small, medium sized businesses and their trusted advisors, you know we've referred each other, you know clients and opportunities and.

00:43:32.640 --> 00:43:41.700 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): it's just great like it's great to have this type of thing tank but not only that the folks that are just willing to get their voice out there and and be heard.

00:43:42.000 --> 00:43:52.710 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And it's one of the beautiful things about the network, which I say to people all the time, is, I think, just about not all but almost every host on the network has been a guest on another host show.

00:43:53.700 --> 00:44:02.400 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And it's that kind of mutual support that kind of working together and we're also referring business to each other so it's it's not just.

00:44:02.790 --> 00:44:11.520 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: A community of people all doing shows on the same network we're getting to know each other we're becoming friends with we're more than friends, you know.

00:44:12.360 --> 00:44:14.700 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I really feel like with some of the hosts like.

00:44:15.450 --> 00:44:25.650 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I if I was in trouble, I could reach out, and I know you guys would step up for me and if any of you guys were in trouble I would step up for you, you know, like like Jeremiah he has a restaurant.

00:44:26.040 --> 00:44:35.580 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: He had a really hard time for quite a while, but you know we gave him the support you know what support, we could to help them through the tough times and he's doing.

00:44:35.880 --> 00:44:42.540 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know I mean it's still not doing great because of the environment, but he's doing much better than he was before and it's that kind of.

00:44:43.350 --> 00:44:57.120 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: ethos that brings us together that I, I feel so grateful for because it's what I always wanted to create, but I feel it wasn't until like the current people who are on the network that really get it.

00:44:57.570 --> 00:45:17.550 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And and and that's one thing I like honor you and and Steve and and Jeff and Eric and all the people on the network, I really, really am so appreciative of how you show up week after week with the, in my opinion, the right kind of attitude for this network.

00:45:18.180 --> 00:45:24.270 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Well, I certainly appreciate that and I love Jeremiah stuff too, I hope to meet him one of these days have you ever had time to take a break from working but.

00:45:24.480 --> 00:45:31.500 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): In the spirit of taking a break we'll be right back right after this with Sam leibowitz executive producer of talk radio dot nyc don't go nowhere.

00:47:50.010 --> 00:47:58.590 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Welcome back to always Friday with me Stephen fry your SMB guy we're talking with Sam leibowitz the doctor strange of talk radio dot nyc.

00:47:59.280 --> 00:48:10.020 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): don't forget everybody if you are a small, medium sized business entrepreneurs aspiring entrepreneur stay with talk radio dot nyc for the entrepreneurial web with Jeremiah fox coming up right after me but.

00:48:10.320 --> 00:48:16.740 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Bringing it back to Sam leibowitz we're going to take things home with the message that folks need to take away over the weekend.

00:48:17.010 --> 00:48:22.350 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): What weekend insight, we can give them to make a Monday impact and we've talked about some awesome stuff here today.

00:48:23.280 --> 00:48:35.070 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): You know one thing that I forgot, you know from you know when we were talking just now, and I wanted to throw out there is, you know the just getting started piece, you know, really, you have to strive for progress not perfection, you have to.

00:48:36.390 --> 00:48:44.100 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Reference the last week yeah you have to step up the stairs not stare up the steps and it's something that was important for me to get things moving.

00:48:44.580 --> 00:48:52.590 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): But it's also the it's some of the fun of doing a live show also there's a lot of folks out there that are doing podcasts and doing other types of programs.

00:48:52.860 --> 00:49:05.280 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): And everything's pre recorded and edited which don't get me wrong, I have to do some editing of a lot of the content that i've done myself, but you know part of the fun of doing a live show is yeah it doesn't always go perfect life isn't.

00:49:06.660 --> 00:49:13.740 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Right and people actually like that, I mean they've done studies that show that when things are more gritty more real that.

00:49:14.190 --> 00:49:27.990 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: audiences actually respond to, because it feels more authentic and it was like I heard some ridiculous thing that like major corporations are spending millions of dollars to create videos that look like they were created on your phone in the backyard or something.

00:49:28.530 --> 00:49:34.260 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And it's again it's it's that authentic piece it's just showing up, as you are.

00:49:34.530 --> 00:49:52.290 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And and it's your more relatable when things aren't perfect now look i'm a big believer that there is a place for doing that pre recorded like edited highly polished kind of content, but for me it's just more fun when it's not so perfect, it just.

00:49:52.530 --> 00:49:54.540 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: feels more real to me.

00:49:54.840 --> 00:50:11.310 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: more enjoyable and it's more engaging and that's one of the things that I think people often overlook that doing live versus pre recorded is because, when your life is an opportunity for engagement, I mean look we've got a bunch of comments from people from Tommy and pad and other people.

00:50:12.390 --> 00:50:20.580 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So, like you, we can shout them out, and they interact and they come back I do it on my show every week I have loyal listeners that I know.

00:50:20.910 --> 00:50:35.700 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: William and patty and so nyah they're like there every single week listening commenting sharing and and it's again it's it's it warms my heart, and I know it makes them feel good because I always mentioned them on my show.

00:50:36.300 --> 00:50:43.680 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): So last week, one of the messages that we gave everybody for you over the weekend was don't be afraid to push the reset button.

00:50:44.430 --> 00:50:45.570 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): And I feel like, with your.

00:50:45.600 --> 00:50:52.440 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): book and a lot of the things that you do and just your general way of being even just the title of the book every day awakening.

00:50:52.950 --> 00:50:59.850 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): it's kind of a lot about that isn't it is just don't be afraid to push life's reset button don't be afraid to throw your voice out there and a live talk show for.

00:50:59.910 --> 00:51:07.710 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: What I would say it a little differently, because sometimes pushing a reset button can sound a little harsh a little severe, I would say.

00:51:08.280 --> 00:51:15.150 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know don't be afraid to take a different perspective of things, I mean that's really what I tried to do in the book.

00:51:15.540 --> 00:51:26.370 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Was give people a different perspective on very common situations, I mean again it's based on my life it's all about what I was going through at the time, and what I felt was the lesson at the time.

00:51:27.120 --> 00:51:41.040 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And it's don't be afraid to change the story, because we all have these stories inside our head that when something happens what it means, and why it happens, and all this stuff but those stories are all made up.

00:51:41.280 --> 00:51:51.090 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Yes, absolutely it's like, why not if it's all made up anyway, why not change it to a story that actually empowers us instead of disempower us 100%.

00:51:51.120 --> 00:51:59.790 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): And it's you know the even the back of the book, where it says harness your superpowers, you know yo yo you guys have heard me talk about differentiating yourself getting your voice out there.

00:52:00.000 --> 00:52:10.980 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): But even my story has changed in the last couple months were realizing what your vision is and what those superpowers mean i'm the superpowers guy too I like Superman I like the Flash I like Batman whatever.

00:52:11.490 --> 00:52:20.880 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): But my superpowers, as it relates to people process product and that order I like to share stories I like to provide perspective, so I consider that a process superpower.

00:52:21.420 --> 00:52:28.320 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): And product wise I like to create connection whether it's products that I have services that I have products or services that Sam has.

00:52:28.530 --> 00:52:39.060 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): or any of my other SMB guests that are on here, Sam this has been an absolute pleasure i've been looking forward to it, since the first first time I appeared on the network, since we first spoke to each other, I think i've been.

00:52:39.060 --> 00:52:40.260 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Looking forward to interviewing you.

00:52:41.100 --> 00:52:42.720 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Thank you well.

00:52:42.810 --> 00:52:52.890 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Before we let everybody go today and move on to the entrepreneurial web we're gonna have some fun real quick and visit my three questions, who was your favorite movie or TV show character what's your favorite movie or TV show.

00:52:53.370 --> 00:53:07.860 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): And what is your favorite musical instrument and who is the artist you'd like to hear play it so without further ado, being the SCI fi enthusiasts that he is sam's favorite TV show character is James five serious.

00:53:09.060 --> 00:53:11.040 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Oh that's not bad.

00:53:13.380 --> 00:53:14.550 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Maximum speed captain.

00:53:15.660 --> 00:53:18.930 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): yeah James James type areas turn you know somebody who is.

00:53:20.130 --> 00:53:32.490 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): You know surfing surfing the galaxy basically the Fed go boldly going where no man has gone before very fitting for Sam as he's helped many others aside myself do exactly that, in the.

00:53:33.060 --> 00:53:36.030 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Annex being an explorer, but you can explore.

00:53:36.450 --> 00:53:45.810 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know friend of mine said during the pandemic give you have against explore outside explore inside, you know as much as I want to go out and to outer space inner space is just as deep.

00:53:46.530 --> 00:53:48.780 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): I agree, and I know you know very well.

00:53:48.810 --> 00:53:52.530 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): That I like make an appearance on stage with my own here and there, so.

00:53:52.860 --> 00:53:54.570 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: i'll just live long and prosper.

00:53:54.630 --> 00:53:55.140 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Very good.

00:53:55.560 --> 00:54:04.770 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): And favorite your favorite movie character, was an awesome one for you, I thought and that's john keating Robert Robert Robin Williams character from dead poets society.

00:54:05.070 --> 00:54:13.410 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Those of you who haven't seen the movie yet teaching he plays a teacher Robin Williams, who uses poetry to embolden is boarding school students to new heights of self expression.

00:54:13.800 --> 00:54:20.490 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Very impactful movie and very impactful character for someone like Santa to really be super imposed on to you.

00:54:20.550 --> 00:54:28.320 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I loved him because he really was about thinking differently, and not just you know, following the same thing that everyone else does.

00:54:28.500 --> 00:54:39.210 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): I mean, think about this one quote here like and how it relates today like it's almost like a lost art poetry beauty romance love this, these are what we stay alive for not as tech talks and blah blah blah.

00:54:39.480 --> 00:54:46.200 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): carpe diem seize the day make your lives extraordinary again phenomenal choice of character love it very, very cool.

00:54:46.680 --> 00:54:56.760 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Moving on to the favorite movie or TV show side of things, I guess it's no surprise that star trek is a favorite TV show, and I know you're the captain so uh how's it right by your side there.

00:54:58.290 --> 00:55:03.870 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): But going into the movie side of things SCI fi Star Wars.

00:55:04.890 --> 00:55:20.370 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): yeah it's Star Wars obviously Sam likes to spend this time around the originals Luke skywalker Han solo obi wan kenobi cheery and yoda you know saving the galaxy from the empire's world destroying battle station, or just the fear of actually getting your.

00:55:20.400 --> 00:55:26.790 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): voice out there, because he does help people conquer that your jedi mind tricks will not work on him, I promise you.

00:55:28.110 --> 00:55:35.520 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): I know you might I don't know if you see yourself as the Han solo but I kind of consider you to be the yoda of everything i'm sorry it's an ugly picture.

00:55:35.670 --> 00:55:36.210 yeah.

00:55:37.620 --> 00:55:44.280 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I really like obi wan I mean yoda, of course, is the ultimate but I consider myself more and obi wan this.

00:55:44.940 --> 00:55:51.810 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): Though as far as helping people conquer that fear of public speaking and getting your voice out there, I send so much fear in you.

00:55:53.550 --> 00:55:57.360 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): But yeah I love the euro yoda on my shoulder and if I could be a freebie yoda on your.

00:55:57.360 --> 00:55:57.870 shoulder.

00:56:00.660 --> 00:56:14.430 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): button you're moving into the music side of things, I guess it's no surprise that the instrument of choice is the human voice and Emerson lake and Palmer was the answer, and especially Greg lake also from King crimson fame.

00:56:15.660 --> 00:56:26.310 Steven Frey (SMB Guy): passed away a couple years ago, but a great discussion points Sam Thank you so much for being here once again, I tried to list all of sam's contact information but he's got too many businesses and all of that.
