Show Notes

Segment  1

Sam starts with a quote from the universe about our perception of the world being shaped by habit. Sam has observed that overtime people don’t think about their place in the world through an expansive stance, instead we begin to retract. He recommends that you read “The Magic of Thinking Big” by David J Schwartz if you believe that thinking bigger may help you be true to yourself. Sam reads another quote from the universe about being solution oriented. Within the years that Sam has been doing his show, all of his guests agree that the more you lean into the vision you have of something greater, the more likely you will succeed.

Segment 2

Sam talks about our food shopping habits. How often do you buy groceries? How often do you order delivery? Some people shop more since we are home and cooking more often? Others are ordering more delivery from restaurants. In the past, Sam and his wife would invest in community agriculture. They’d buy a share of a farmer’s crop and the food would be brought to a local venue like a church. It’s also good to be conscious about the energy you consume and the clothes you buy. Sam encourages you to share resources with others and minimize waste.

Segment 3

We don’t often think about health and self care. Investing in your health does not mean you have to be fanatical, small changes can be significant. One of the changes that Sam made is adding walking to his routine. Self care for your mental health and spiritual health is essential. When you put others ahead of yourself, you are not in a good state and can’t show up for other people. Sam begins talking about retirement and how it does not have to mean one thing. It can be taking a break in the middle of your life, and you can do it multiple times. There is nothing wrong with retiring at 65, but it is important that it is your conscious choice.

Segment 4

It is important to also prioritize fun. From travel and adventure to a hobby. Sam believes that you should also focus on contribution, giving back to the community. Sam supports organizations that help people get the basics. A philosopher who once said, “Society will be judged by how they treat the poorest of the poor.” Giving back does not always mean giving to an organization, it can mean giving back to a friend in need. It helps you even though it doesn’t feel like it. Overall it is key to invest in your growth. Take your cues from nature because if you are not growing then you are dying.

00:01:54.090 --> 00:02:13.320 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Just look, for me, you can't miss me alrighty well, of course, first we're going to start off with our wonderful and amazing quotes of the day, from the universe, and from Abraham to kick us off let's see what the universe and Abraham have in store for us today first from the universe.

00:02:15.000 --> 00:02:25.710 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Thinking small isn't easy or hard it's just a habit a habit, with consequences same for thinking big.

00:02:27.120 --> 00:02:33.030 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: God I love these things, the universe, we love our quotes from Mike Dooley in the universe.

00:02:34.260 --> 00:02:35.550 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: reminding us that.

00:02:37.050 --> 00:02:41.850 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: How we perceive things how we lean into things how we think about things.

00:02:43.500 --> 00:02:54.420 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: really comes down to nothing more than a habit, the more we practice something, the more it just becomes the way we live.

00:02:56.640 --> 00:03:13.260 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And look I know as well as anybody that when we're younger and especially for a little bit different or if we're dreamer and people tease us make fun of us give us a hard time i'm i've been there, I know it.

00:03:14.880 --> 00:03:17.520 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But when that when we experience that.

00:03:18.990 --> 00:03:36.810 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: We shut down a bit we cut ourselves off from who we really are because it's uncomfortable nobody wants to be a pariah nobody wants to be made fun of nobody wants to feel like there's something wrong with them.

00:03:38.250 --> 00:03:41.460 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And that's what society does to people who think differently.

00:03:42.660 --> 00:03:44.760 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And it's a very rare person.

00:03:45.900 --> 00:03:52.110 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Who can experience all of that, and still feel Okay, and still feel.

00:03:53.610 --> 00:04:06.960 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know, like there there's nothing wrong with them, we all want to be accepted and loved by those around us, we all want to have friends, we all want to feel like we fit in.

00:04:08.490 --> 00:04:23.280 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know the really funny part is and i've experienced this several times, where i'm with a group of people and and somebody says hey how many people here felt like they were an outsider when they were younger felt like they didn't fit in and like everybody's hand goes up.

00:04:25.350 --> 00:04:31.440 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Because we all feel that way at some point or another we all feel like.

00:04:32.520 --> 00:04:48.990 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know, it just I don't feel like I found my Community I just feel alienated we've all experienced it so what happens because of that is suddenly instead of thinking these big wild crazy things.

00:04:50.100 --> 00:05:02.460 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: We start dampening ourselves, we start pulling back, we start cutting ourselves up off from the way we really feel about things.

00:05:03.390 --> 00:05:20.790 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So, instead of having these wild and crazy ideas like colonizing the moon and and and fixing the world and and peace on earth and and and everybody living together and working together peacefully like that's becomes such a.

00:05:22.920 --> 00:05:26.700 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Foreign thought that was once a natural thought for us.

00:05:27.750 --> 00:05:30.690 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And then we stopped dreaming we stopped dreaming as much.

00:05:32.010 --> 00:05:42.600 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And instead of thinking in these big vast expanse of ways we start contracting and contracting and contracting.

00:05:43.890 --> 00:05:45.240 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And pretty soon.

00:05:46.650 --> 00:05:57.330 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Even things normal things that for most people would seem like yeah that that's not difficult that's not hard with them, we anyone can do that we start thinking now that's impossible.

00:05:58.020 --> 00:06:10.860 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: We started, you know, look at all these things that can go wrong, we start focusing on all the problems, instead of focusing on the solutions and we start quote unquote thinking smaller.

00:06:12.210 --> 00:06:20.790 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And this quote in particular means a lot to me because back when I was in college, I believe it was.

00:06:22.230 --> 00:06:34.620 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: It was my first exposure to personal development ideas around personal development and new thought and stuff like that, and it was this wonderful book wasn't a very big book called the magic of thinking big.

00:06:36.270 --> 00:06:52.110 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And it completely opened my eyes to how much our perspective and our thinking affects what we do, how we show up in the world what we can accomplish.

00:06:53.460 --> 00:07:07.200 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And it just that book resonated with me so much and if you've never read it, I highly recommend it the magic of thinking big it's an old classic in the personal development field but well worth the Read.

00:07:09.780 --> 00:07:15.780 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And that's the thing it's thinking small, and this is what the quotes all about it's a habit it's something that's learned.

00:07:16.980 --> 00:07:21.690 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And so, if we don't like thinking small, we can learn to think big.

00:07:23.670 --> 00:07:30.360 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And it's just a new habit it's a new exercise that we just need to cultivate within ourselves.

00:07:31.620 --> 00:07:33.030 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And it's not that.

00:07:34.050 --> 00:07:49.230 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know, everybody has to have these big wild ideas or everyone has that thinking this huge way no there's big Small Medium crazy outlandish conservative all kinds of stuff there's room for all kinds of thinking.

00:07:51.720 --> 00:07:59.310 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: it's a question of what feels good for us, some people are really, really good about thinking about details.

00:07:59.850 --> 00:08:10.320 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Other people are good about thinking about big picture, other people are good about thinking about execution of the people are good about thinking about direction and planning or or crisis management.

00:08:10.770 --> 00:08:21.390 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: there's so many facets to how we look at the world there's nothing wrong with any of them and i'm not saying everybody should be going out and thinking huge and big.

00:08:23.340 --> 00:08:35.430 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Unless that's what makes you feel good unless leaning into that helps you to feel that that you're more true to yourself that's the key.

00:08:37.440 --> 00:08:49.710 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: it's how are you being connected to yourself and it's thinking big thinking moderate thinking about execution thinking about solving problems thinking about what the problems could be.

00:08:50.310 --> 00:09:03.720 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Whatever it is that's apropos that's in alignment with who you are like that's what we should be leaning into and not letting anybody tell us.

00:09:06.870 --> 00:09:15.210 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: That what we're thinking is wrong or not good or or or we're being idealistic or dreamer.

00:09:16.470 --> 00:09:29.820 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know that old quote you know, indeed it's only the dreamers who change this world that I don't believe that 100% but yes it's the people with the wild outlandish dreams.

00:09:30.690 --> 00:09:40.890 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: who have the capacity to attract and bring others around them in a way that that inspires them that's what lifts us up and moves us forward.

00:09:42.300 --> 00:09:48.810 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Okay, a wonderful good reminder from the universe let's see what Abraham has in store for us today.

00:09:51.450 --> 00:10:04.110 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: It is natural that by knowing what you do not want you're able to clarify what you do want, and there was nothing wrong with identifying a problem before beginning to look for a solution.

00:10:04.830 --> 00:10:19.710 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But many people over time become problem oriented rather than solution oriented and in their examination and explanation of the problem they continue the perpetuation of the problem.

00:10:20.400 --> 00:10:31.980 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: That which is like unto itself is drawn so tell the story, you want to live and you will eventually live it Abraham um.

00:10:32.940 --> 00:10:44.550 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Yes, this is, this is very much in alignment with the first quote, and this is a big one, and you've heard me I even spoke about it a little bit before, when I was talking about the first quote but it's something I talked about a lot.

00:10:45.720 --> 00:10:47.400 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: it's being solution oriented.

00:10:49.200 --> 00:10:57.510 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Not that we don't recognize there's a challenge in front of us, not that we don't recognize there's some problem there's something we need to deal with that's just not working.

00:10:59.070 --> 00:11:06.180 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Great because the more we recognize what isn't working what doesn't feel good what's not.

00:11:07.680 --> 00:11:10.560 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Unfair unfolding, the way we would want it to unfold.

00:11:12.660 --> 00:11:23.640 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: The more we can focus, we know, then what we don't want which helps us to know what we do want and that's the key That is where we want to lean into.

00:11:26.880 --> 00:11:30.270 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: The contrast helps us to identify what we do not want.

00:11:31.710 --> 00:11:41.640 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: By knowing what we don't not want we're able to then more lean into and visualize and crystallize what it is that we do want.

00:11:42.750 --> 00:11:48.300 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And when we're really, really, really, really clear about what we do want.

00:11:49.920 --> 00:11:59.010 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Then we focus on that, then we lean into that then we line up our energy with that, with which we want.

00:12:00.510 --> 00:12:06.000 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And by lining up so completely and so fully with that which we want.

00:12:09.330 --> 00:12:13.020 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: It is inevitable that it will come into our being.

00:12:15.330 --> 00:12:18.810 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And I I think one of the greatest examples of this.

00:12:19.560 --> 00:12:37.380 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Is we hear the stories all the time of sports people golfers and baseball people who just over and over and over again in their minds, they think about you know hitting that hole in one hitting the home run you know, making that touchdown whatever sport you like.

00:12:38.460 --> 00:12:45.660 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: That, the more they visualize it and the more they think about an in their use their imagination to connect to that feeling.

00:12:47.430 --> 00:13:00.660 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: It lines up their energy it lines up their physiology it lines up their emotions to be so connected to that.

00:13:02.250 --> 00:13:06.480 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: outcome that eventually it will come to pass.

00:13:07.710 --> 00:13:11.250 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Now look i'm not saying that if.

00:13:13.680 --> 00:13:21.000 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know you lost a leg in an accident in fact you're going to be able to win the Olympic you know sprint.

00:13:22.470 --> 00:13:36.270 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: doesn't mean you can't still be a runner there i've seen videos of people who didn't have feet, to have these prosthetics four feet and they're running and competing athletically there's always away.

00:13:38.640 --> 00:13:54.690 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But it's about being open its head of recognizing where we are not resisting where we are, but knowing where we want to go and by knowing where we want to go and and visualizing that feeling that lining up with that.

00:13:56.250 --> 00:14:03.840 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Our nervous system, our brain cells our whole way of being lines up with that.

00:14:05.310 --> 00:14:13.230 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And if we just keep to it consistently and and with perseverance and keep moving in that direction.

00:14:14.430 --> 00:14:15.810 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Inevitably, we had it.

00:14:17.100 --> 00:14:32.610 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: At least with the 10 and a half years that i've been doing my show, and all the dozens and dozens hundreds of guests that i've had on my show those who've really if you've listened and you followed me and you've gone back and listen to the archives.

00:14:33.690 --> 00:14:51.690 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: every single one of them who who's gotten to that place in their life, where they're just thrilled and they've really manifest and there's maybe more to manifest but they've really come so far from from the low point in their life, they will all say the same thing all of them.

00:14:54.270 --> 00:15:05.910 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So look, this is not just me giving you some theoretical idea that maybe might work know there is evidence upon evidence upon evidence.

00:15:07.470 --> 00:15:17.670 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: that the more we clarified lean into and connect with that vision we have something greater.

00:15:20.370 --> 00:15:27.780 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: That we move in that direction even from an unconscious perspective it's like we're programming ourselves.

00:15:28.500 --> 00:15:39.390 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: To just go there, naturally we're installing it into our operating system that this is where we want to go so two wonderful amazing.

00:15:40.050 --> 00:15:52.230 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: fun quotes of the day from Mike Julian the universe and Abraham I love these quotes so much thank you, thank you all, I see patty on the Facebook live joining us.

00:15:52.860 --> 00:16:06.510 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: In her car on the way to in sacramento welcome patty glad you're here with us so after the break we're going to get into our topic of the day, which is about consciously investing.

00:16:07.110 --> 00:16:17.130 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And i'm going to actually even qualify that a little bit more it's about consciously investing in ourselves what does that mean, how do we do it.

00:16:18.090 --> 00:16:21.990 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And we will get into that and i'll answer all your questions around that.

00:16:22.800 --> 00:16:36.360 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: After we come back so you are listening to the conscious consultant our awakening humanity, we do this, live every Thursday 12 noon to 1pm Eastern right here on talk radio dot nyc all over Facebook live.

00:20:00.990 --> 00:20:12.180 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: In Germany, France, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Brazil, Argentina and across the United States Thank you so much for tuning in I really appreciate you being here with us.

00:20:13.020 --> 00:20:24.330 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: If you're on the Facebook live please feel free to just pop in a little comment Where are you listening from just so I have a sense of where we're at I know patty's listening out in.

00:20:25.380 --> 00:20:26.250 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: California.

00:20:27.330 --> 00:20:38.340 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But let me know where where else you guys are tuning in from okay wonderful, so I chose us a topic for this show where it's just me and you.

00:20:39.720 --> 00:20:47.130 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: consciously investing and the reason why I, in particular, chose this topic this week is because, just this past weekend.

00:20:48.150 --> 00:21:05.040 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I was in a retreat with natalie pace and those of you who are loyal listeners and listening my show for at least a couple of years know i've had her on the show not not even just once i've had on the show a couple of times because i'd love this woman she's so.

00:21:06.360 --> 00:21:13.200 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: dedicated to really educating people and empowering them about how to make good investment choices.

00:21:13.740 --> 00:21:27.750 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And I and then this this isn't even the first time, is the second time I took her class because I just felt I just know myself, sometimes it takes a couple of times for things to really sink in.

00:21:28.800 --> 00:21:39.450 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And so it kind of got me thinking about how we don't often think about how we invest in ourselves.

00:21:40.680 --> 00:21:44.010 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And we invest in ourselves in many, many different ways.

00:21:45.210 --> 00:22:05.700 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And so I thought for this show, I would go through how to be a little bit more conscious in how we invest in ourselves in the different ways we invest in ourselves and how, when we're a little more aware and a little more.

00:22:07.800 --> 00:22:08.940 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: A.

00:22:10.200 --> 00:22:12.180 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Little more aware and a little more.

00:22:13.980 --> 00:22:16.860 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: i'm mindful let's just say.

00:22:21.150 --> 00:22:21.810 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: That.

00:22:24.990 --> 00:22:41.550 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: We can really make a bigger difference in how we invest them and my apologies, I just saw patty said she lost audio want to make sure, everything was okay so it's good now okay so i'm going to go through 246 different areas.

00:22:42.600 --> 00:22:52.410 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And, as I go through these areas i'm just going to talk about different aspects and being more mindful and I would love it if.

00:22:53.820 --> 00:23:11.100 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You can for those listening on the Facebook live, if you want to interact, if you have questions around it or comments, please, please type into the Facebook live, so that I can respond to you and answer your questions directly Okay, so the first area.

00:23:12.120 --> 00:23:20.310 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: about investing in ourselves, and this is something we do, but we do it so.

00:23:21.780 --> 00:23:43.050 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So much on a daily basis, I think we don't really give much thought to it and that's why I wanted to start with this, which is just how we invest in our basic needs, when talking about basic needs i'm talking about food, shelter, clothing, our health and our self care.

00:23:44.790 --> 00:23:56.430 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Okay, so let's just start with that food right we go shopping probably every week, if not more frequently and it's kind of interesting.

00:23:57.330 --> 00:24:03.120 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: living in New York City and being exposed to a lot of immigrant cultures over the years.

00:24:04.110 --> 00:24:19.140 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: How, you know, I was brought up you know, in the bronx where yeah we did a food shopping once maybe twice a week, at most, or you know special occasions, but you go to the supermarket buy a bunch of food you bring it home then that's it.

00:24:21.090 --> 00:24:23.370 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But in a lot of the world.

00:24:24.510 --> 00:24:39.390 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You don't do that you dont pile up food in your home you actually are going out and buying fresh food every single day you're cooking that food and maybe have some leftover but then the next day someone is going out to the market and buying more food.

00:24:41.460 --> 00:24:55.680 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So the frequency with which we go to the market to buy food it's something we don't usually think about but it's something I wanted just to bring to your awareness, a little bit to just sort of think about.

00:24:58.230 --> 00:25:01.200 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Is it better to shop less.

00:25:02.610 --> 00:25:07.230 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: and pick up more and have it sitting in the fridge or freezer and then cook it.

00:25:08.850 --> 00:25:11.220 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Is it too much of a hassle to go every day.

00:25:12.720 --> 00:25:28.680 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know, is it once a week twice a week is it once every other week and how much are we eating out and how much are we eating at home now again during these last year during this last year we're eating at home, a lot more.

00:25:29.880 --> 00:25:44.340 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And we're probably not going to the supermarket as much because we're trying to limit our exposure, but for some of us we're going to the supermarket more because we're eating home, a lot more, which is ultimately healthier for us.

00:25:45.840 --> 00:25:49.080 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So we're we're running through our food much more quickly.

00:25:51.900 --> 00:26:01.380 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And then it's what choices, do we make with our food or are we being really conscious with our choices are we buying just what's on sale are we buying what's organic.

00:26:03.300 --> 00:26:11.550 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know, do we shop at the local farmers market I love picking up food from the farmers market it's usually more expensive than the supermarket, I understand that.

00:26:12.150 --> 00:26:18.360 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But I love the fact that it's sort of cutting out the middleman and giving the food directly to the farmers.

00:26:18.720 --> 00:26:30.600 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: For many years, my wife and I had been a member of what's called in New York City a CSA Community supported agriculture, where basically you would buy a share of a farmer's crop.

00:26:31.170 --> 00:26:41.640 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And then during the seasons and it wasn't all year long, it was typically may it would start about May or June through till beginning of November.

00:26:42.360 --> 00:26:48.810 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And just each week, they would come to a location here in the city typically a church.

00:26:49.590 --> 00:26:59.280 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And, and they would distribute and you'd come by and you get a handful of this a pound of that three of these four of those you come with your bags your pile everything and you take it home.

00:27:00.090 --> 00:27:15.870 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And it, you know with costs, I don't know Maybe it was like it was 50 bucks a week, maybe, but the amount of fresh produce you would get would be like almost worth double that.

00:27:19.530 --> 00:27:24.840 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And, and so it was a wonderful thing, because it was, and it was fresh the dirt was still on it.

00:27:25.980 --> 00:27:32.490 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And, and we loved it but, but after a while it was who weren't looking at much Oh, we just became too much and we stopped doing it, but I.

00:27:33.420 --> 00:27:42.750 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But I loved it and I really encourage people to to see you know, are the local farm co OPS, that you can buy food from, no matter where you are.

00:27:43.500 --> 00:27:48.780 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Is there a way, and maybe there's not a Co op but maybe there's a way for you to.

00:27:49.470 --> 00:28:04.530 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: make a deal with a farmer in your area or a couple of different farmers for getting a eggs and milk and different things, and just think about being a little more creative with your food and being a little healthier a little closer to where things are grown.

00:28:07.590 --> 00:28:18.660 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: and shelter our home, where do we live how conscious, are we being with it, how how energy efficient, are we being look at it's a well known factor that.

00:28:19.950 --> 00:28:30.240 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: a bunch of people living in an apartment building is much more energy efficient than a bunch of people living in individual houses and actually it's becoming more and more.

00:28:31.590 --> 00:28:38.730 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Common for people to to come together to share homes to get a larger place and rent out rooms.

00:28:39.180 --> 00:28:53.190 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And, and to come together and it actually makes sense it's like, why not share the resources if you have people who, you have a good enough relationship with that you feel comfortable enough sharing a home with, why not.

00:28:54.750 --> 00:29:04.410 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: and clothing be more conscious with clothing Look, we all like nice things I mean these days during the pandemic, we probably don't need as much fancy closing as we used to.

00:29:05.280 --> 00:29:14.400 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But you know my wife and I would love going to some of the thrift stores on the lower East side, sometimes and finding this old vintage clothing that book, some of it wasn't so nice.

00:29:14.730 --> 00:29:21.450 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Some of it was good, sometimes hard to find it good stuff that fits you, but just because somebody else wore a.

00:29:21.930 --> 00:29:30.990 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: piece of clothing once doesn't mean it's not good anymore and think of how much time effort energy we're putting into buying news clothes all the time.

00:29:31.890 --> 00:29:45.630 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: me my wife really good about giving away her clothes like she wear something it's still being great shape and then you know she gets together with some friends and they exchanged clothes, or the give it to someone.

00:29:46.320 --> 00:29:58.830 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Who is needed, you know why throw out a piece of clothing, because it looks a little worn it's really being a little more mindful of our resources understanding that.

00:30:00.150 --> 00:30:10.500 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You that the more we can reuse recycle exchange, the better it is for the environment, the better it is for each other.

00:30:10.920 --> 00:30:17.850 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And the more sustainable, it can be, because in the past, we used to buy clothes and they would last a really long time.

00:30:18.570 --> 00:30:22.650 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And you'd have one good suit and that good suit would last 1020 years.

00:30:23.160 --> 00:30:34.560 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Now we have 10 suits and elasticity a year and b's have you look at it anyway, I know I gotta get going to a break I haven't even finished talking about needs I don't know if i'm going to get to all of these things but.

00:30:34.980 --> 00:30:44.610 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: i'm going to try and do my best to run through the stuff when we come back i'm going to talk about our health and our self care, which to me are important basic needs.

00:30:44.910 --> 00:30:53.010 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And then i'll start talking about retirement education and hopefully we'll get to fund contribution and growth, before the end of the show you are listening to.

00:30:53.400 --> 00:31:07.260 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: The conscious consultant our awakening humanity, we do this every Thursday 12 noon to 1pm Eastern right here on talk radio dot nyc I see loyal listeners tonight and patty and we will be right back after this.

00:33:55.980 --> 00:34:01.140 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: and welcome back to the conscious consultant our awakening humanity.

00:34:01.440 --> 00:34:12.990 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Just as a reminder it's just you and me today and i'm talking about consciously investing in yourself last segment I talked a lot about food, and I see patty says that.

00:34:13.830 --> 00:34:17.880 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: During the pandemic she chose to support a local farm and she loves.

00:34:18.750 --> 00:34:24.450 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: feeling better about buying things like milk and eggs directly from the farm and Cynthia said that.

00:34:24.750 --> 00:34:32.610 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know, when she moved out of the city she had to change your shopping habits and she actually used to like going shopping daily before the pandemic.

00:34:32.910 --> 00:34:43.230 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And that it made her feel more aware of eating better and that's The thing is that sometimes shifting our habits helps us just to become more aware of certain things.

00:34:44.100 --> 00:34:54.030 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And so, when it comes to basic needs, I spoke about food, shelter and clothing and I just want to talk before I move on to the next section about health and self care.

00:34:56.760 --> 00:35:01.080 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: We often don't think that much about our health when we're healthy.

00:35:02.670 --> 00:35:21.540 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And it's when we have a challenge when we have an issue, then it often comes to our awareness, but by the time that happens, usually you know there's some damage to our body there's something going on, that we haven't taken care of so it's not so easy to come back to health.

00:35:22.770 --> 00:35:34.590 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Until investing in ourselves by making our health a priority is very important now look i'm not saying you have to be fanatical and go to the gym every single day and.

00:35:35.940 --> 00:35:41.340 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know, be on a complete vegan diet and look if you're into it great wonderful.

00:35:42.390 --> 00:35:52.470 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But sometimes it's just little things it's just seeing what your habits are and then, what can you do to shift it now, and just as an example.

00:35:53.760 --> 00:36:01.590 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: When the pandemic hit in my apartment building my gym is in the basement of the building and they closed, it was very upset because I just gotten.

00:36:01.950 --> 00:36:11.730 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: back into a routine, where I was going to the gym two to three times a week and i'm usually not very good at that, and I was really starting to enjoy it and then boom the gym is closed.

00:36:13.440 --> 00:36:19.200 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And i'm and I have to tell you i'm not good at exercising in my apartment.

00:36:19.830 --> 00:36:26.370 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I mean, we have the space to do it, but there's just something I need to change my environment to really exercise, but what.

00:36:26.790 --> 00:36:41.670 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I started doing during the pandemic is we started going out to the park and walking a lot more so we'd go to central park after dinner and take a little stroll I would go down to my office, which was a good, you know, a.

00:36:44.340 --> 00:36:48.600 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: over an hour walk yeah about an hour and 15 minute walk from where I live.

00:36:49.260 --> 00:36:58.560 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And so I do that walk just to like pick up the mail and check on the office and see what's going on, and then I would sometimes i'd walk back some of the if I was trying to take the bus back, but.

00:36:58.890 --> 00:37:11.520 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I got into walking and then sometimes on weekends, when it was a nice weekend during the spring and the summer we do some really long walks around riverside park and I may, I think one day we did a nine mile walk.

00:37:12.720 --> 00:37:25.440 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And so, for me, I like walking so that was the exercise for me for other people they love jogging running biking whatever it is just that movement is so helpful.

00:37:26.160 --> 00:37:37.200 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And, and it helps to at least be doing something at least be be be doing something where you're being mindful of your body and and and for your health.

00:37:37.950 --> 00:37:46.950 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: In addition, one thing that i've been investing in myself for many, many, many years I think i've been taking vitamins, since I was in my early 20s.

00:37:48.180 --> 00:37:52.530 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And I remember why, because at the time, I remember meeting this couple.

00:37:53.760 --> 00:37:56.970 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: In the supermarket or somewhere somewhere in the neighborhood.

00:37:58.320 --> 00:38:08.700 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And they looked so young and vibrant I was talking to them, and it turned out, they were like over 50 years old, which at the time to me was seemed relatively old that anymore 50 is very young.

00:38:09.480 --> 00:38:21.330 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But they weren't great shape and I was like what do you guys do, and they were like oh we've just been taking vitamins all our lives, like really they're like yeah we take a multivitamin we just make sure, because you never know you might not be getting all the nutrients, you need.

00:38:22.560 --> 00:38:37.650 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And it just so impressed me how they were and the vitality, they had compared to other people, the same age, I was like yeah that's me that's what the way I want to be, and so i've been taking vitamins, you know more than half my lifetime.

00:38:39.150 --> 00:38:46.380 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And you know I know some medical professionals don't believe in it, I know, did the different opinions on it.

00:38:47.790 --> 00:38:58.500 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: It works for me and I don't get sick that much I actually haven't had a cold or flu in probably six seven years.

00:39:00.420 --> 00:39:06.690 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: It really, at least for me it's that extra piece of mine it's me investing in my own health.

00:39:07.860 --> 00:39:13.350 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And it's also I want to talk about this briefly before I move on, because I really got to move on more quickly self care.

00:39:14.790 --> 00:39:28.080 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: it's a way for me to take care of myself and self care is so important, these days, things like getting body work done pampering yourself taking breaks not being so hard on yourselves it's.

00:39:30.210 --> 00:39:39.990 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: it's also the self care for your mental health it's self care for your spiritual health it's making yourself a priority in your life.

00:39:41.070 --> 00:39:52.380 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: so that you can continue to enjoy your life and many of us, we sometimes put other people ahead of ourselves, we make other people's needs more important than our own.

00:39:53.490 --> 00:40:04.470 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And the challenge with, that is when we keep putting other people ahead of ourselves, then we get worn out we don't give ourselves what we need, and then we're not able to show up well for other people.

00:40:05.070 --> 00:40:22.350 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So self care is one of the most important investments, we can make in ourselves and and self care has many, many, many different aspects to it so it's not just one thing, but it's figuring out what is self care for you.

00:40:23.850 --> 00:40:33.300 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: hey Let me move on, because I do want to talk about retirement and a lot of this class that I took over the weekend was talking about sort of investing for retirement.

00:40:34.980 --> 00:40:43.800 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: However, I want to take a sort of a different approach, a different tack towards retirement and those of you who've read the four hour workweek have have heard this.

00:40:44.160 --> 00:40:51.510 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: This concept before and it's one that I really like i've had been able to implement in my own life, but I think it's.

00:40:52.080 --> 00:40:55.440 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: something worth putting into people's consciousness.

00:40:55.950 --> 00:41:09.630 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: That retirement doesn't have to be one thing retirement does not mean that we wait until we're 65 or 70 and we have silver hair and where we're just going on cruises the rest of our life, not that there's anything wrong with that my mom did that, for many, many, many years.

00:41:10.890 --> 00:41:14.490 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But retirement can be just taking a break in the middle of.

00:41:15.000 --> 00:41:24.780 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Your life you don't have to wait until you're 65 to retire, you can take many retirements along the way, who says retirement is something that you.

00:41:25.110 --> 00:41:35.640 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Only do at the end of your life, why not do it in the middle of your life, while you still have the vitality and the physical stamina to do a lot more things that you enjoy.

00:41:36.600 --> 00:41:45.510 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And who says retirement means that you're not working, maybe retirement is just that we're only working at the things that truly bring us joy.

00:41:46.320 --> 00:41:57.030 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: met we're not working anymore, just to pay bills that we've invested wisely we've invested with an eye towards the future, so that our investments are earning us enough.

00:41:57.450 --> 00:42:10.830 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: That whether it's real estate stocks businesses will whatever kinds of investments and you can start it anytime let me, let me just state this you do not need a lot of money to invest.

00:42:12.120 --> 00:42:18.810 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: If you can be creative you can find all kinds of ways to invest pooling your money with other people.

00:42:19.680 --> 00:42:37.140 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Finding inexpensive investments, does it have to be stocks and bonds no not necessarily, but it could be all kinds of things, but you want to be wise, you want to be intelligent about it, you want to do things that make sense that you see has a future.

00:42:39.330 --> 00:42:47.970 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But what i'm saying is that we can take a retirement, maybe once every four years, five years six years 10 years.

00:42:49.200 --> 00:42:58.590 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: move to another country, you know move to another place live in the wilderness just change our environment.

00:42:59.760 --> 00:43:09.120 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: as a way of just having a reset and doing that, for whatever period of time either we can afford to do it or we've planned out to do it.

00:43:10.080 --> 00:43:20.130 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And if we're intelligent and we look at expenses and we look at you know what we're spending that you know we find ways to cut back, simplify our life not quite spend as much.

00:43:20.670 --> 00:43:24.450 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Know maybe we realized hey look I save up a whole bunch of money while working.

00:43:24.990 --> 00:43:39.630 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I can live off of this for my next two maybe three years, maybe, if I can, maybe, maybe only a year, but maybe if I move to a country where the standard of living is different and pricing prices are less.

00:43:40.170 --> 00:43:46.380 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I can extend that to two or three years, so I go, I take a break for two or three years, I know I still got enough.

00:43:46.710 --> 00:43:55.260 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: to live off of that I come back and now Okay, let me do something else, let me either find a different kind of job or, let me start a different business.

00:43:55.530 --> 00:44:07.620 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Or do something different, and now, let me build that up and work at that for a number of years until I have enough savings to go off and do it again now, one of the key things with this kind of thinking.

00:44:09.240 --> 00:44:21.000 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Is simplifying your lifestyle really cutting out all in next to sorry expenses and planning and thinking about the joy you're going to have by being able to do this.

00:44:21.390 --> 00:44:37.890 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And if this doesn't resonate with you, if you're like no I, like my life, I, like my routine, I want to just keep working at what i'm doing, and then, when i'm done i'm done that's great but let's make that a conscious choice, and not just doing that because that's what everybody else does.

00:44:39.690 --> 00:44:49.440 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Right, we do not have to follow the way everyone else lives, their life we can find a different way of doing it if that's what appeals to us.

00:44:50.730 --> 00:44:59.940 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: If we enjoy the way our life is going along and we don't want to change it crazy wonderful, but let's just be a little more mindful about it.

00:45:00.240 --> 00:45:13.020 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: let's just be more conscious of it so it's a life that supports us now, one that that stresses us out now when that makes us feel like Oh, this is the only way that I can be.

00:45:15.000 --> 00:45:28.290 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I see patty says she retired to Arizona for the Nice weather and so that she can bake and hike around yeah I hear you patty I hear you i'm believe me i'm really getting tired of these northeast winters myself.

00:45:29.310 --> 00:45:39.180 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: All right, um I know I don't have too much time left, but let me just start upon the next session section, which is education consciously investing in our education.

00:45:40.410 --> 00:45:46.860 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Education is not about going to school education is about learning something new.

00:45:48.150 --> 00:45:57.090 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And now we can be a little more conscious about investing in something new that helps us with our work with our career or our business.

00:45:58.050 --> 00:46:05.970 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: We can invest in our education for something personal like learning a new language or or learning a new hobby.

00:46:06.510 --> 00:46:11.100 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: We can learn something new about different cultures, you know, investing in ourselves can be.

00:46:11.490 --> 00:46:22.020 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: going to a different country and living there, not as a tourist but as a local to really feel and get into what that new culture is that's an education to.

00:46:22.980 --> 00:46:31.440 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And sometimes I feel we're a little myopic here in the United States that we don't really see how the rest of the world lives so that's I think is a very important.

00:46:31.920 --> 00:46:40.470 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Education, that we can give ourselves all right i'm going to have to make it quick because I still got fun contribution and growth to go to, but I have to take a break first.

00:46:41.700 --> 00:46:52.020 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And is our last break of the show I can't believe it already alright so everyone, please stay tuned you're listening to the conscious consultant our awakening humanity and we will be right back after this.

00:49:12.300 --> 00:49:16.500 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Welcome back to the conscious consultant our awakening humanity.

00:49:17.010 --> 00:49:25.530 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: i'm really pleased as a see patty made a really nice comment on the Facebook live, this has been a wonderful show this Thursday I always.

00:49:25.860 --> 00:49:30.240 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Like our one on one call me selfishly just have so much to share Thank you patty.

00:49:30.690 --> 00:49:35.250 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I know a lot of my loyal listeners really like these shows that, where I don't have a guest.

00:49:35.580 --> 00:49:42.270 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I mean the guest shows are nice, but I do like being able to talk with you directly and and and bring you guys into the conversation, so please.

00:49:42.630 --> 00:49:53.160 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Questions comments, this is the last section of the show this is a great time to just to hit me up with what you want all right next section I want to talk about is consciously investing in our fun.

00:49:54.090 --> 00:50:10.110 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: We don't often think about it, but fun is so important in our lives and look I love to have fun I do do things that have fun it's not been quite as easy to have fun during the pandemic, as it used to be, but I still do what I can.

00:50:11.520 --> 00:50:22.200 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So it's just being mindful and making fun a priority in our lives, it is an ultimate act of self care to say I just need to have fun.

00:50:23.580 --> 00:50:33.960 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And so, and fun can be a lot of different things for different people you know used to be travel it's not really travel that much anymore, though, it can be I just saw a good friend of mine, she just.

00:50:34.380 --> 00:50:42.600 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: went back to Taiwan she's originally from Taiwan, she lives in the United States now, but she just went to Taiwan, she said, for a few months, so I wish her all the best there.

00:50:44.460 --> 00:50:56.760 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Travel adventures, what kind of adventures, would you like to go and like sometimes just going someplace getting lost and finding your way through and new towns new places that can be a huge thing.

00:50:58.140 --> 00:50:59.220 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: hobbies.

00:51:00.720 --> 00:51:16.470 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know what kind of fun hobbies what kind of hobbies can you cultivate your schedule some time if you're really busy really put aside some time to have a hobby you know, is it learning a musical instrument is it doing something you used to do when you're a kid.

00:51:18.060 --> 00:51:29.040 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Is it, you know sports, is it some kind of thing you know you don't have to be an athlete to enjoy sports I used to play ultimate frisbee when I was younger I haven't played it in years.

00:51:29.790 --> 00:51:41.910 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: I did play it a little bit about 1015 years ago but, but I would love to get back and playing frisbee again and I will, when the weather gets warmer here but there's so much we can do to just have fun.

00:51:43.500 --> 00:51:46.740 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And how much do we deny ourselves having fun.

00:51:48.120 --> 00:52:06.090 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So let's uh let's put that on the conscious list of things for to invest in for ourselves because scheduling fun in our lives is investing in ourselves and the dividends, it will pay will be immense.

00:52:07.710 --> 00:52:08.970 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And then contribution.

00:52:10.380 --> 00:52:13.110 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: contribution is our giving back.

00:52:14.460 --> 00:52:23.070 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: it's what kinds of charities, are we going to support maybe we don't and we don't necessarily have to support them with our dollars, maybe we're supporting them with our time.

00:52:23.370 --> 00:52:30.150 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Or maybe we're just helping to get the word out about what's going on i'm thrilled that we've we've got back on our network.

00:52:30.420 --> 00:52:38.670 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And a new nonprofit show philanthropy and focus that highlights all these amazing nonprofits and actually I spoke with Tommy and.

00:52:39.540 --> 00:52:50.370 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know, actually I haven't told any of my other hosts this but, on the network we're going to pick a cause a nonprofit that we're going to promote and support i'm going to.

00:52:51.120 --> 00:52:58.350 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: we're going to have a meeting with all the hosts and we're going to present different options the hosts are going to vote on it, and whatever.

00:52:58.890 --> 00:53:11.460 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: charity they vote on will make a monthly contribution to and will promote them and, and it may be different ones, over time, maybe it won't always be the same one maybe we'll choose a charity each year.

00:53:12.510 --> 00:53:24.330 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But its contribution is so important, and you know I usually don't like mentioning where I do my contribution work out what my giving back is.

00:53:24.780 --> 00:53:40.050 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But I do love causes like charity water, and I do you know just those those kinds of causes that help people who are in the worst situations get get access to the basics clean food, clean water, shelter.

00:53:41.430 --> 00:53:50.310 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: There was once a Russian philosopher who said that you know society will be judged by how he treats the poorest of the poor.

00:53:51.180 --> 00:54:15.360 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And that really kind of struck a chord with me, and so I always felt that this focus when we're looking to give back and help people in this world to focus on those people who are really at the bottom, because when we lift up the bottom, the whole world benefits.

00:54:16.620 --> 00:54:25.920 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And indeed, when we raise the standard of living for the lowest for the board just the waves of that filter all the way up.

00:54:28.380 --> 00:54:39.150 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So yeah i'm a big believer in giving back and sometimes sometimes the giving back is not does not always have to be to an organized.

00:54:39.930 --> 00:54:48.450 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: thing, maybe it's just about helping a friend in need, maybe it's about you know, seeing somebody on the street who's in need.

00:54:48.990 --> 00:54:59.640 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And, and maybe you don't believe in giving money to the homeless people but thinking go to the Deli by them an apple buy them a piece of food, you know, a cup of coffee.

00:55:00.990 --> 00:55:02.730 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: You know how we treat.

00:55:04.110 --> 00:55:06.540 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Those people who have nothing.

00:55:07.890 --> 00:55:11.010 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: It really reflects a lot on ourselves.

00:55:12.720 --> 00:55:17.070 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: How generous, we are with them is how generous, we are with ourselves.

00:55:18.300 --> 00:55:28.440 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So contribution is very much an important part that feeds our soul that feeds how we feel about ourselves.

00:55:30.660 --> 00:55:47.010 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So I know, and believe me i've been there i've been somebody long time ago, where I didn't have that much where I couldn't afford to help other people, where I actually had to ask help from other people and and you know you have to swallow your pride and it does.

00:55:48.150 --> 00:55:52.980 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: It doesn't feel good when you need to rely on other people's help I know what that's like.

00:55:54.330 --> 00:55:59.730 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: But once we're out of that situation once we're thriving.

00:56:01.050 --> 00:56:03.990 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Giving back contributing to the world around us.

00:56:05.370 --> 00:56:19.440 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: it's actually helping ourselves, even if it doesn't seem like it and, indeed, like the people I know who do things like go to a soup kitchen on thanksgiving to help feed.

00:56:20.040 --> 00:56:31.980 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: People who don't have food or don't have a place to go for thanksgiving those people they talk about what a wonderful time it is and how much they enjoy it so sometimes maybe it's just about the experience of giving back.

00:56:34.290 --> 00:56:40.770 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And then, finally, the other investments so so important is always remembering to invest in our growth.

00:56:42.060 --> 00:56:50.040 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And again, investing in our growth is not about dollars and cents, maybe it's about picking up a book from the library.

00:56:50.730 --> 00:57:03.690 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: That investing in our growth around our spiritual emotional or mental side our physical side it's learning to grow it's looking at nature and taking our clues from nature.

00:57:05.250 --> 00:57:10.980 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: That when we're growing we're thriving and when we're not growing usually we're dying.

00:57:12.930 --> 00:57:14.730 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So, before I close off I see.

00:57:17.070 --> 00:57:35.610 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: patty and sin, I, like some of these suggestions Cynthia said she takes her kids and gives them coloring books and comic books to give them to children and local hospitals, I love that tonight that's great patty says she asks a homeless people for advice and gives them money.

00:57:36.810 --> 00:57:41.070 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So this way they can choose what they want to do with the dollars and.

00:57:42.840 --> 00:57:51.840 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: And and actually it they feel like they're giving something to you right you're asking them for advice, because you don't know you know they weren't always homeless you don't know their.

00:57:52.440 --> 00:58:03.390 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: background and yeah I love that patty because this way they feel like you're not just having pity on them that there's actually some exchange going on there, so that's beautiful.

00:58:04.230 --> 00:58:13.110 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: Okay, so just to recap investing consciously in ourselves is about investing consciously in our basic needs.

00:58:13.470 --> 00:58:22.710 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: invent investing consciously and thinking differently about our retirement investing consciously in our education in fun and having fun in our lives.

00:58:23.220 --> 00:58:28.440 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: In contributing in contributing to the world around us and in our own growth.

00:58:29.040 --> 00:58:41.100 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So that we can thrive and do better and feel better and do more, so that we can show up better and be more of a contribution to the world around us just by who we are being in our lives.

00:58:41.700 --> 00:58:51.480 Sam Liebowitz, The Conscious Consultant: So I hope you've enjoyed the show that that's just you and me if you've enjoyed the show, please share it with your friends, please let people know about it.
