Show Notes

Segment 1

Tommy introduces the show from his attic and gives the audience a brief introduction about his guest Dalisha Rodriguez. The two jump right in by talking about Dalisha’s Non-profit, Hey There Beautiful. Dalisha gives the audience an introduction to her past, talking about her need to leave the corporate sector and stray from the societal norms that constrained her, as she was unsatisfied in the legal world. The two go over Dalisha’s story and she describes how it is important for girls to look within themselves and rather than be given the answers to find their path in this world. Dalisha emphasizes that “beauty is loving yourself,” as 90% of young girls want to change their bodies - but according to Dalisha, we must help change mindsets around us.

Segment 2

The two dive in by talking about Dalisha’s TedX talk - she talks about how the beginning of her momentous speech was a little chaotic, however it came together with a great ending. Tommy then transitions to talking about some of the programs that ‘Hey There Beautiful’ has; Get your life together, live on facebook is a show that is hosted by two coaches. This show talks about moving forward and discusses difficult situations in comedic ways, this program is made to motivate individuals to do more, succeed and rise up. One of the programs offered spanked inspiration for Tommy as well, Dalisha says that she had a similar experience - she said that while making her Non-profit she was letting go of friendships and relationships, as she was trying to grow and people were choosing not to push her up at that moment in her career.

Segment 3

Both Dalisha and Tommy talk about the impact the organization is making on the ground. Dalisha talks about the STEM program that is run by ‘Hey There Beautiful,’ teaching kids all sorts of things, including coding. They just initiated their STEM program and the innovative platform already has about a dozen students, this is to motivate entrepreneurship - according to Dalisha it would be great to see more students with the power of developing their own ideas on their own. Dalisha talks about her toy drive that was extremely successful and she was happy to have brought so much joy to the community. Dalisha talks about one of her students who is selling cupcakes and making $500 a week, at the age of 13. Dalisha presses that it is important to partner with other non-profit organizations, collaboration brings a lot more success compared to working alone.

Segment 4

The two dive in and talk about connecting each other to various nonprofit organizations. Dalisha talks about the organizations that she plans to connect with; organizations that are large, financially beneficial and organizations that are prepared to be as ambitious as Dalisha. They go over on how to get connected and in touch, and Dalisha talks about how her social media is all public to be a s accessible as possible. They thank all the supporters on facebook live.

00:02:22.470 --> 00:02:23.040 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: And so.

00:02:23.370 --> 00:02:32.130 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: So i'm just jazz to have you here so tell me tell me the story tell me kind of your background I love the science behind you, I was looking at that sign behind you, by the way, it says, now I get it.

00:02:32.250 --> 00:02:32.670 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: yeah.

00:02:32.820 --> 00:02:37.470 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: i'm looking at it, I was like I don't get it and that's funny because that's exactly, but now I get it.

00:02:37.530 --> 00:02:37.710 So.

00:02:38.760 --> 00:02:42.390 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: i'm hoping after our conversation today I get it even more I understand even more.

00:02:42.570 --> 00:02:53.400 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: So, having you know look, I have two daughters, I have two sons and it's even, especially with the girls i'm always because of a dad i'm trying to figure out the best way to to really motivate and power and and really help them.

00:02:53.970 --> 00:02:56.310 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: attack the world, so why don't we get started tell us your story.

00:02:56.790 --> 00:03:02.370 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: So Hello everyone, yes, that he should give Rodrigo see everyone calls me D or coach the.

00:03:02.910 --> 00:03:10.020 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: So the way that I got started was, I was in corporate America was in the corporate sector for about 12 years and my grandmother passed away.

00:03:10.530 --> 00:03:19.770 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: In October, I believe, of 2014 yes and I had an Epiphany and I wrote you know my my ex at that time like this 13 page handwritten letter.

00:03:20.010 --> 00:03:27.720 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: about what I wanted to do with my life and I had an Epiphany that in order to have her legacy live on, I had to reclaim my dreams.

00:03:27.960 --> 00:03:39.360 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: So the following year he said yes, and I said great and I, you know we started the nonprofit April 2015 it'll be our sixth year this April was celebrating our birthday so excited.

00:03:39.690 --> 00:03:51.510 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And I just knew that there was something else me there was a fire me I had been in corporate America for a while and I had conform to what society wanted me to conform to right so that's getting out of school.

00:03:51.840 --> 00:03:59.850 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: get good grades get a good job, I was very studious you know went to Nassau Community college went to St john's university shout out to sj you.

00:04:00.090 --> 00:04:12.030 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And so you know, and I had thought that that was the lay of the land that's what I was supposed to do, but I was really unsatisfied in the legal world like I come from legal from you know I had been working in the legal field since I was 16 so.

00:04:12.240 --> 00:04:19.170 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I had been well versed in corporate and I just I couldn't be me right, I had the stylish outfits I had this personality.

00:04:19.350 --> 00:04:30.450 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And I knew that I was really you know put you know, putting out my own flame my own desires just sitting behind this desk and corporate and then I just resigned I resigned live on Facebook.

00:04:31.170 --> 00:04:38.550 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: That For those of you that want to watch it I resigned live on Facebook and I knew that there was more, and that was started hey they are beautiful and we started out with.

00:04:38.760 --> 00:04:46.560 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: An awesome board of directors, you know close friends and family members and we just started volunteering doing things from my grandmother's house from her yard.

00:04:46.770 --> 00:04:53.670 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And we would just empowering women doing what we could and I didn't know what I was doing at the time I just knew that I was supposed to be doing that.

00:04:54.900 --> 00:05:05.280 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You know I love what that last piece you just said there you just you weren't real sure where you were going what exactly you were doing, but you felt right, it was the right feeling in it.

00:05:05.610 --> 00:05:11.370 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You know I find it's it's unfortunate and I think that so many of us get caught up in in corporate and and end up like.

00:05:11.640 --> 00:05:17.970 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You know you're in this cube or this box is office and it's you know, not a lot of us fit into the I certainly don't you know and.

00:05:18.570 --> 00:05:25.140 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: I always said, the only job that I could ever do in corporate America was being sales, because you, you have some level of autonomy some level of.

00:05:25.560 --> 00:05:41.340 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Freedom, you know at least we convince ourselves that sales guys, we have a lot of freedom, you know so that to me I I love that story I love that you are able to find your passion and go after it, so you so you're a coach I was no kidding I was literally watching something.

00:05:41.610 --> 00:05:53.400 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: on Facebook with your buddy Nigel just earlier this morning yeah and I I tell you look i'm pretty fired up most times anyhow, and then I watched your stuff and I was even more juiced up so so tell me how How does that what you do from.

00:05:53.850 --> 00:06:03.570 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: From empowering yourself to empowering your clients, if you will, and then imply empowering the young, ladies that are part of the program like talk to me just about how that all works out.

00:06:03.960 --> 00:06:07.560 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I think I think it's really first you know for those folks that are listening.

00:06:08.130 --> 00:06:12.150 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: It really starts with taking care of yourself right it starts with creating that bubble.

00:06:12.420 --> 00:06:25.650 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: of love of support of joy of trusting yourself trusting your gut I think that as soon as I stepped out of corporate America that's when the fire made under me that this is why gets to be for everyone else, and so coaching really incorporates.

00:06:26.760 --> 00:06:30.930 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: This sense of pride that I have because I love seeing the progress of my clients.

00:06:31.170 --> 00:06:39.870 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And then, in addition, i'm also coaching young girls i'm not giving them the answers folks i'm not telling them that they have to be confident that they have to go to school, that they have to wear makeup.

00:06:40.110 --> 00:06:45.180 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: i'm not selling them any of that folks hey they're beautiful what we do is I tell them my life story.

00:06:45.450 --> 00:06:54.870 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I tell them when I where i've been I look like them, including my clients, we look like each other, we sound like each other, and so I think that that's the big piece we're so afraid to be vulnerable.

00:06:55.050 --> 00:06:59.130 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And I think that there's so much power and vulnerability, because it then connects us.

00:06:59.310 --> 00:07:06.360 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: that's why you're listening now because you want to hear my story, and you want to see how it impacts your life and where we fit you're not listening.

00:07:06.540 --> 00:07:17.820 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: For me you're listening for you, so that I can inspire you because there's something about my story that keeps you fired up that keeps you juiced up, and so, for me it comes full circle, with the coaching and with the nonprofit because.

00:07:18.060 --> 00:07:25.890 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I don't give girls, the answers I have them look within the same way, I had to look within myself, I would not be here today, if I didn't take.

00:07:26.100 --> 00:07:35.430 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: That deep deep deep inner work and do that personal development right and go within myself to see that you know it's I don't have problems I have solutions.

00:07:35.700 --> 00:07:38.910 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I don't have you know there's there are no issues out there, their answers.

00:07:39.090 --> 00:07:48.330 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And so it's really about, you know, for me, what what changed the game is really that personal development that growth and knowing that there's more inside of me so once I knew that.

00:07:48.480 --> 00:08:00.780 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I could then apply it to my clients, I can then apply it into the real world, because we're not giving people the answers folks that's not what I do you get to look deep inside of yourself to figure out where where do I lie where, am I, who am I.

00:08:01.020 --> 00:08:03.090 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: that's, the first question, I posted who are you.

00:08:03.390 --> 00:08:10.020 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: because some people are not even able to answer that and then, if we're not able to answer that as adults, how do you think kids respond to us.

00:08:10.230 --> 00:08:22.470 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: So it really comes full circle So for me, I am the mirror to those around me and so i'm choosing joy and i'm choosing to be fun and i'm choosing to be fired up because there may be darkness in the world, one person has to be the light.

00:08:22.860 --> 00:08:34.110 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And so that's what I decided to do I decide to be the light for those that are looking for what's next and so coaching is just all across the board within the organization and in my coaching business as well.

00:08:34.710 --> 00:08:37.440 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: So again, you got to be going in.

00:08:39.150 --> 00:08:48.390 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: That question who am I, you know, a big question, but often I think it's individuals into becoming who they think they need to be in certain settings right now play this.

00:08:48.870 --> 00:08:54.570 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: This chameleon type role like it's funny I was watching this movie last night with jonah Hill and.

00:08:55.260 --> 00:09:03.720 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: War dogs it's on netflix I fell asleep watching it, but a one time his buddy in the movie says, you know he had figured out I figured the character's name, but he figured out.

00:09:04.170 --> 00:09:12.630 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: To how he could be what others wanted him to be, and he was very successful for that, but I sat there like listening to that because i'm always thinking cuz i'm always seeking and.

00:09:13.410 --> 00:09:21.930 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You know it's a it's a movie right it's not like wasn't necessarily an inspirational movie by any means they were they were fun runners you know it wasn't really something that would get you like.

00:09:22.350 --> 00:09:28.500 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: fired up like you want to do that, but I sat down and thought about it, I said I wonder about this character that he portraying here is he.

00:09:29.340 --> 00:09:36.780 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Is he ever himself, did you ever know who he is because he's always playing and maybe this is something that I need to consider maybe that's why it came up for me last night.

00:09:37.080 --> 00:09:44.700 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Is it, are you playing a role for other people, and when do you actually sit back and be use and you said there you're not giving them the answers.

00:09:45.060 --> 00:09:52.920 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You know you're you're allowing them the opportunity to seek inside and find themselves and in the vote vulnerability piece, I think, is.

00:09:53.310 --> 00:10:03.570 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: is so key man it's it's so critical with what I want to ask you is I don't know each other from one to two years now, I have no i've never asked you this hey they're beautiful where.

00:10:03.930 --> 00:10:11.910 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: I mean I love it it's inspirational motivational tell me where it comes from what is it what does it mean to you was it mean to the folks in the organization.

00:10:12.360 --> 00:10:15.780 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: So we were originally supposed to be Hello beautiful right.

00:10:16.350 --> 00:10:23.730 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: The first thing I thought of is you know i've been in corporate for a while, so I picked up the phone I said law offices of such and such and I said.

00:10:23.940 --> 00:10:30.360 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: What would inspire people that when you pick up the phone they're like hi how are you I, so I said to myself, I said wow what would.

00:10:30.690 --> 00:10:34.080 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: be really nice for someone to say good morning hey they're beautiful, how can I help you.

00:10:34.500 --> 00:10:45.060 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And or hey they're beautiful, how can I help you right because we often times like you know women we get cat cold and all that but I said what if we call the corporation, and that was the name.

00:10:45.270 --> 00:10:51.180 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Right like we embody what beautiful is right and we say hey there right because i'm from New York right i'm from brooklyn.

00:10:51.600 --> 00:10:57.870 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: For those of you that don't know right so we're often it's like hey how are you I said, what about hey very beautiful.

00:10:58.050 --> 00:11:10.920 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Because I wanted her to experience that from the moment that she saw her name right because you know we mentor women we mentor young girls so from the moment that she saw the name, she didn't see it as a plug for beauty products.

00:11:11.100 --> 00:11:18.780 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: She didn't see it as a plug for anything she knew that when she called it would be like the Creme de la Creme of nonprofits wow hey they are beautiful.

00:11:18.960 --> 00:11:26.400 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: It can encompass who, I am as a woman, who I get to be as a young girl, and it also gets people fired up because the name is really big.

00:11:26.970 --> 00:11:36.630 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: You know, when we announced that they're like hey they're beautiful and then young girls are saying hey they're beautiful we're not calling each other, anything but beautiful like the essence of what that gets to be for you.

00:11:36.870 --> 00:11:44.550 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You know, and something that right on, thank you for sharing that and I just want to listen to this video you're talking about this morning and you said you know you're not talking about.

00:11:44.820 --> 00:11:53.400 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Trying to have girls, you know do makeup or do the hair or any of that stuff you know I kept listening to I want to listen up this morning thinking about it and saying.

00:11:54.990 --> 00:11:58.140 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You know, from a societal perspective, you know.

00:11:59.430 --> 00:12:08.250 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You know, women feel that they have to do certain things, I guess, I shouldn't I should ask you do women feel like they have to do certain things makeup and different things and whatnot and.

00:12:10.230 --> 00:12:19.200 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: And that's not beauty right like what is the natural beauty of it all not not these things we put on and so talk to me if you could about.

00:12:19.710 --> 00:12:28.440 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Beauty is loving yourself folks listen I i'm telling you as someone who recently released 100 pounds i'm feeling great about life I did it naturally.

00:12:28.680 --> 00:12:35.460 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I have no knock on what women call beauty I think it's really loving yourself at the core because that's the piece like men.

00:12:35.880 --> 00:12:45.210 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Typically, a my experience they want to experience joy and fun and happiness right, and I think for any couple right, whether you know what whatever that looks like for you.

00:12:45.420 --> 00:12:59.610 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: For me, I think it's really loving yourself right I don't need to look a certain way or appear anything when i'm happy with myself when i'm creating joy and I think that that's the stigma that we get to support I think it's a 92% of girls between the ages of.

00:13:00.090 --> 00:13:07.920 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: 14 and 17 they wanted to change something about their body, because they are already used to the stigma and so we get to like get them before that right.

00:13:08.880 --> 00:13:10.260 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Do they go back a second what.

00:13:10.500 --> 00:13:12.660 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: I want that statistic, I want to, I want to underline that.

00:13:12.690 --> 00:13:20.100 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: yeah I think it's 92% of girls that that they wanted to change something about their body between the ages of 13 and 17 right.

00:13:20.280 --> 00:13:35.580 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And so it's really important for us to start loving our young ladies, the way that they are we're showing them a world of plastic surgery and makeup, and all this i'm not knocking it I got lipstick on I love lipstick It makes me feel great right, however, it doesn't make me.

00:13:36.000 --> 00:13:47.460 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: write me looking better for you doesn't make me, and I think that that is the core conversation we get have about vulnerability like look I had low self esteem, I try to you know commit suicide twice.

00:13:47.700 --> 00:13:57.120 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I went through you know all of these are all the things I went through young ladies right and look at where I am now i'm successful without a relationship i'm successful without corporate America.

00:13:57.300 --> 00:14:08.790 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: i'm successful beyond measure because my peers so i'm successful because i'm happy right it's really getting down to the core what makes you happy when you know who you are you then know what makes you happy it doesn't become.

00:14:09.480 --> 00:14:13.860 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Just fashion or it just doesn't become what we see on TV because that's the piece too.

00:14:14.070 --> 00:14:19.230 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: it's a lot of the things that we ingest and we get to support our young women, however, it starts with us.

00:14:19.380 --> 00:14:29.160 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: If we're not happy, our kids are not happy, are you know our nieces and nephew are not happy and so that's really the important piece folks is that we understand that there is something that makes us.

00:14:29.430 --> 00:14:42.450 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: very, very, very happy and we get to get to the core of that whether its family or friends or love or wealth or successful or help getting to the core of what your happiness is really will then exude that beauty and then we can see that in that can shine.

00:14:43.320 --> 00:14:47.940 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: we're going to get to the core of all that we're gonna be back in two minutes, it would take a quick break we just got to.

00:14:49.500 --> 00:14:55.680 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: pay the bills as a state, I never said that, before I was missing, I guess, I guess, it is, I guess, we got to pay the bills we're gonna take a quick break.

00:14:56.190 --> 00:15:06.450 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: D and I will be back in two minutes we're going to get to the core of this love yourself right love yourself by the Court and listen I get fired up to the show i'm more fired up than ever, and I might go about it yeah let's go.

00:15:06.720 --> 00:15:06.930 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: All right.

00:15:07.470 --> 00:15:09.300 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: we'll be back in two minutes, the i'll See you in a minute.

00:18:20.940 --> 00:18:22.170 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: I got it, I think I got this thing.

00:18:22.170 --> 00:18:22.440 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: going.

00:18:22.920 --> 00:18:36.060 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: So they're checking in and saying hello, the true essence of H TB, they said so we love you guys rock on alright, so your candor is admired your your stories is great you've shared some stuff with us.

00:18:37.260 --> 00:18:38.430 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You had a tedx talk.

00:18:39.030 --> 00:18:39.510 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: yeah.

00:18:39.570 --> 00:18:41.460 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Two years ago, in fact, wasn't like a couple weeks.

00:18:41.850 --> 00:18:43.260 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: A year anniversary already yeah.

00:18:44.220 --> 00:18:45.330 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: So that's like.

00:18:45.810 --> 00:18:54.660 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: I haven't done it yet it's it's gotta be wild I speak in front of crowds regularly but tell me about that, I mean I know a little bit about the story so tell me tell us tell our listeners.

00:18:54.990 --> 00:19:02.790 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: So there, I was behind this so I wasn't given directions and like at the last moment, they said, your.

00:19:03.120 --> 00:19:07.380 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: You know your speech should be just at the 20 minute mark mine was at the 16 minute mark.

00:19:07.680 --> 00:19:14.910 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: So the night before I was in a room for about two and a half, three hours, I think I was up till three or four in the morning and I rewrote my whole speech.

00:19:15.390 --> 00:19:17.910 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And then there was a man with these huge cue cards.

00:19:18.210 --> 00:19:26.280 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And he was right behind and what they I was at another conference and they had me speak last and I was the most powerful so here they had me speak first at the tedx talk.

00:19:26.490 --> 00:19:30.810 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And there's this man with these big cue cards and I looked at him and I said you're going to go up there with that and he said yeah.

00:19:31.080 --> 00:19:39.240 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And then, all of a sudden i'm like I need my notes, I need my notes and i'm shaking and they said alicia he Rodriguez and they pushed me on stage and I forgot all my words.

00:19:39.510 --> 00:19:44.580 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And I said Mike check 1212 like i'm looking around i'm like is brooklyn in the House right.

00:19:44.880 --> 00:19:54.300 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And the majority of the crowd was my family so now i'm i'm i'm like Okay, I have it in pockets right, because what you want to do with a tedx talk as you want a section at all.

00:19:54.480 --> 00:19:59.220 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: So I think the first part was about my me and my grandmother, then my dad and the statistics, I saw was.

00:19:59.520 --> 00:20:08.160 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And then, all of a sudden i'm getting into it and I look at my honest crying and I look at my sister's cry and I look at my best friend is crying so now I can't look at them.

00:20:08.340 --> 00:20:16.470 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And i'm looking at these two elder women and they are like pointing at me and then I go girl and they're talking to me and i'm like I guess i'm getting this right.

00:20:16.710 --> 00:20:26.220 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: and put some Barbecue sauce on my name put some respect on Monday past the Barbecue sauce Thank you and I walked away, I was ready intentional, because I wanted the last word to be grateful.

00:20:26.730 --> 00:20:29.730 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I was very intentional, so I did you know have it.

00:20:30.000 --> 00:20:35.340 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: In a way, where it did jive with me and I just felt like it needed to flow I didn't want to do something.

00:20:35.520 --> 00:20:43.020 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I didn't want to just present something I wanted to present the core essence of me and that's you know I love hip hop I love rap I love to be able to.

00:20:43.200 --> 00:20:48.090 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I love poetry i'll have spoken word, and that was at the for who I really was so I knew that if.

00:20:48.390 --> 00:20:54.600 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I was going to you know show this in high schools and for young kids to watch and even for folks to stay engaged.

00:20:54.870 --> 00:21:04.050 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: It has to be something different, and so I knew in that moment, I said, let it be a rhyme and let it be straight from my heart and it ended up being like one of the most incredible bodies of work.

00:21:04.830 --> 00:21:11.880 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: That I have done, to this date and i'm really proud of it, I mean you know things happen and we look back and be like Oh, I should have been I could have been I would have.

00:21:12.450 --> 00:21:18.270 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And I wouldn't change anything, because it told me a lot of lessons about myself and how to wing it full success improv one on one.

00:21:19.140 --> 00:21:24.540 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: So I watched it and I was incredibly touched by it, I think I texted you like, right after because I I get very sensitive and.

00:21:24.960 --> 00:21:31.380 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: it hit me, and so, if I can understand it you're saying that like what you did was freestyle it wasn't what.

00:21:31.770 --> 00:21:43.500 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You forgot, everything is one out of your head so, but you knew in your core the message you wanted to deliver you knew what the stories, you were trying to tell so they're your stories right there in you so yeah so that's what came out though it was yeah.

00:21:43.560 --> 00:21:44.460 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: that's what came out.

00:21:44.490 --> 00:21:52.980 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I mean some folks like the biggest lesson I learned from my tedx talk is, we can overly prepared be prepared, nothing will prepare you for that moment.

00:21:53.250 --> 00:21:55.890 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Like you, can you know meditate you can walk.

00:21:56.130 --> 00:22:05.670 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Nothing will prepare you for your your date right whether it's a tedx talk whether it's a conference, whether it's you know in front of funders right because we're talking about philanthropy right.

00:22:05.880 --> 00:22:14.370 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Whatever that looks like we can prepare put all the i's dotted all the eyes cross all the t's However, you always know that at the core of it.

00:22:15.060 --> 00:22:22.590 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Things are going to work themselves out, so I knew in that moment that no matter what I said, no matter what I did, no matter how it, you know how I was.

00:22:22.830 --> 00:22:28.770 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: going to convey it to the audience, it was just it was going to be the body of work that was supposed to be delivered that that's.

00:22:28.980 --> 00:22:36.270 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: What you're going to get you know because oftentimes we're like we're so caught up in the details, and you know, I was just in the moment and I really enjoyed it.

00:22:36.630 --> 00:22:39.450 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: It proved it showed that yeah I remember that Mike check.

00:22:39.870 --> 00:22:40.740 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: That one, so one.

00:22:41.850 --> 00:22:46.590 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Listen, I I totally get it was really cool I want to watch it again, one of my girls and my boys are so.

00:22:46.620 --> 00:22:55.380 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Take a look at it tonight um I want to, I want to get into something I just caught up from the conversation, you have it on your program, what do you call your program that with Nigel what is that Program.

00:22:55.380 --> 00:22:59.640 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: So Nigel is live on Facebook is called will be out there, which means.

00:23:00.360 --> 00:23:07.800 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: You know, get your life together and it's Wednesday live on Facebook at one o'clock every Wednesday we have done six months worth of shows.

00:23:08.070 --> 00:23:15.720 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: we're on show 28 next week and it's just been fun it's two coaches really supporting people and showing you, you know, showing folks like.

00:23:16.020 --> 00:23:22.080 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: we're not better than you, we are the same, I don't want to be put on a pedestal I have issues I have problems I have solutions, I have.

00:23:22.230 --> 00:23:29.100 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: You know I laugh as much as I cry cry as much as I laughed like we're all in this together folks, and so the point of the show is really.

00:23:29.280 --> 00:23:38.850 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: For us to stop making excuses about our lives in a in a funny way right and for us to move forward right all of us have a purpose of passion of vision and mission for our lives.

00:23:39.090 --> 00:23:47.220 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And it's important that like we really understand and he the call to action that's why hey there beautiful is where it is because we're.

00:23:47.460 --> 00:23:58.140 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: listening to what the problems are and we're offering a solution and folks For those of you that are out there, this is made to inspire you this is meant to you know support you with with your what's next year personal what's next so.

00:23:58.380 --> 00:24:03.810 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: know that there's something in you there's a fire there's a passion there's a vision don't move.

00:24:04.470 --> 00:24:13.170 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: don't move that this is your time folks, the time is now the world is on fire and each of us have some sort of device that can extinguish that fire.

00:24:13.350 --> 00:24:20.460 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And so it's about getting out there and doing it now, we don't have much time, you know I talked about my tedx talk my dad had stage four cancer.

00:24:20.640 --> 00:24:31.530 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: They told me he had three weeks left to live literally and I had just finished making amends with him in our relationship we didn't talk for five years and in that moment I knew that time.

00:24:31.860 --> 00:24:42.330 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: My relationship with time gets to be different, because the things I need to do I need to do now, even while taking into chemotherapy I was working two full time jobs and I had hgtv I was meeting you.

00:24:42.600 --> 00:24:55.110 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: All you know your folks at our meetings I was still running around, and so what i'm saying is that time is on your side, this is the time and the moment now to extinguish the fire where your passion your vision.

00:24:55.380 --> 00:25:01.110 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Right, I can get to only, but so many young girls, there are other people that are doing the work there's no competition folks.

00:25:01.350 --> 00:25:15.600 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And this is a time to raise up and rise up right now right i'm not telling you to leave your job and walk out of corporate which you know many of us want to do what i'm saying is that create a plan, because you are the solution for something and don't be afraid of it.

00:25:16.530 --> 00:25:27.930 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You know you don't have to leave your job and cut out a corporate you can you can hedge your bet you know you can go do that, especially in in you know in 2000 22,021.

00:25:28.800 --> 00:25:41.580 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You know the gig everybody's got it I don't know, everybody, but a lot of people have another gig have something else that that passion project, you know, and I I think it's a you know Gary van der chuck I caught something he said one time, and it was right, it was along the lines of.

00:25:43.140 --> 00:25:50.790 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You know, you want to do your side hustle you know from from five to 2am go do that or six a 17 whatever the deal was like.

00:25:51.240 --> 00:25:56.880 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Do your thing, so you know you got the money you got whatever you need cover your bills and then go do your thing, and I think.

00:25:57.270 --> 00:26:05.790 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: What what people who who would say, well, I can I can't well what are they doing between those additional hours, what are they you know they're not going after their passion they're not finding.

00:26:06.060 --> 00:26:14.010 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You know what what fuels them what drives them or they just maybe they're just lazy like there's a lot of time in the day it's what it's how you allocate those hours and how you.

00:26:14.310 --> 00:26:18.990 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: How you invest I was gonna say spend, but I think it's how you invest those hours I work with with an is it.

00:26:20.040 --> 00:26:22.950 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: i'm gonna need you to pronounce it one more time, the name of the show because.

00:26:24.840 --> 00:26:27.060 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: He got there won't be.

00:26:27.120 --> 00:26:29.460 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: God thing oh yeah you got it.

00:26:29.520 --> 00:26:30.660 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: I got it would be got day.

00:26:30.750 --> 00:26:33.600 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Yes, right so on on the latest episode of.

00:26:33.630 --> 00:26:41.790 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: will be got day you and I were talking and you were talking about like that whole which is like an old school thing about like the five people you hang around with, and you know.

00:26:42.720 --> 00:26:50.220 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: I know this stuff i've listened to this stuff before, but something that that you guys were talking about when I listened to it this morning when it hit me was.

00:26:51.060 --> 00:27:02.340 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You know it's yes you're you're a combination of those five people, but we we get to make the choices and if people are dragging us down the talk to me about that, like you just got caught it sometimes right.

00:27:02.820 --> 00:27:06.690 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Absolutely, I think that the greatest thing that I could have given myself.

00:27:07.200 --> 00:27:20.400 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: In these six years of building this nonprofit was allowing people to unfriend me was allowing people to disassociate with me and allowing myself to really create this bubble, but I call like.

00:27:20.640 --> 00:27:31.230 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: You know it's it's it's joy it's fun, the people that call me every day and the chicken with me, they are feeding into me right, because I can go and give and give and give.

00:27:31.530 --> 00:27:40.020 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And what sense is it giving out of an empty cup when I have when I feel like I have nothing right and so it's really important for us to understand that.

00:27:40.230 --> 00:27:49.290 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: The five people that were around great think about the five people that they're around because they are also that energy, so I wanted to be around people who.

00:27:49.440 --> 00:27:57.240 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: knew more than me who are smarter than me who are faster than me who are wiser than me so that I can learn right, because if we're not growing we're dying.

00:27:57.510 --> 00:28:10.650 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And so the piece, for me, was really ensuring that as i'm building this nonprofit i'm not leaving you behind you're making that choice because that's the thing it's a really clear distinction, you are your life is.

00:28:11.100 --> 00:28:12.630 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: The choices that you've made.

00:28:13.200 --> 00:28:23.220 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: that's it there, the choice that you made your marriage or kids corporate all of that built into the choices, you made and i'm not here to say whether they're good or they're bad do they bring you joy.

00:28:23.490 --> 00:28:30.000 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Because at the core of it that's what we want, when I coach my corporate clients they don't talk to me about money and that they want to respond.

00:28:30.180 --> 00:28:38.460 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: They talk to me about the level of time that they want with their family, they took that's what we really want at the end of it we want control of our time.

00:28:38.760 --> 00:28:47.880 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: that's really the important pieces that we don't want control over money, money will come always comes, but we want control of our time, when you can do anything you want with your time.

00:28:48.120 --> 00:28:57.780 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: that's real freedom and that's what people are looking for, and so, for me it really consists of the core people around Gary vee also said it, you know, there are times, where you got to just.

00:28:58.260 --> 00:29:06.900 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: sit and be the person that brings people coffee you got to sit and be just to be in the room at the table and that time where we don't you know I see folks that.

00:29:07.170 --> 00:29:14.760 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: don't understand that listen, it is surgery to be humble in surgery to be humbled and watch and sit at this table or build your own table.

00:29:16.260 --> 00:29:26.880 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: I love both of those it, you know, I think, because I think a lot of people have have that attitude, where you know i'm not going to humble myself i'm not going to grind it out i'm better than that maybe I did this, or I have this degree right accomplished over here.

00:29:27.240 --> 00:29:30.690 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: But you know when you'd be humble and you just you just know i'm part of the team.

00:29:31.260 --> 00:29:37.230 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: you're going to learn right yeah surrounded, you have the potential now to be surrounded by people who you can you can learn from.

00:29:37.800 --> 00:29:43.200 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: we're we're we're gonna take a little time we're going to take another sneak away, but when we come back what I really want to do.

00:30:10.500 --> 00:30:10.710 and

00:32:49.020 --> 00:32:56.520 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: every Friday morning at 10am that's where I will be and I will be here live with another incredible leader of a nonprofit organization.

00:32:57.150 --> 00:33:06.450 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: amplifying their message and helping them tell their story date we're here we're moving through this pretty rapidly, I want to hear what I want to hear about the programs, I want to know.

00:33:06.870 --> 00:33:19.230 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: The impact the organization is making in the Community, I mean I saw things like 1000 toys that were purchased during the holidays and for a goal of 10,000 toys for PS 274 which I think is your elementary school is that right.

00:33:19.470 --> 00:33:25.170 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: yeah that's my elementary so I want to talk about that I want what what I want to talk about the impact, you make it on the ground.

00:33:26.790 --> 00:33:32.310 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Yes, so we have a stem program which is new, we have had we've done it virtually.

00:33:32.910 --> 00:33:43.770 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: shout out to uh you know our facilitator Diana Gonzalez and started off as a passion project for her, and then we decided to you know let's implement this in the school so great tool of grades.

00:33:44.400 --> 00:33:51.540 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: To enough so just about the age of seven so all of our programs are really geared towards young young ladies that are between the ages of.

00:33:51.900 --> 00:33:58.410 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: about six or seven to 17 and you know, we do have a stem programs really robust Ruby just a lot of fun.

00:33:58.650 --> 00:34:10.410 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: They learn about coding, you know they can code in kindergarten right they it's just learning how to build blocks and so as a result of the great work that my team is done, you know we've been able to impact a dozen.

00:34:10.860 --> 00:34:19.200 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: folks a dozen kids behind the scenes, because we just launched this program and so now we're looking to you know implement that nationwide so that's been a lot of fun.

00:34:19.440 --> 00:34:25.440 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: We also have a crown confidential programming right and our crown confidential workshops are really the social emotional learning.

00:34:25.710 --> 00:34:30.510 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Who am I, who do I get to be what's my vision statement what's my mission statement.

00:34:30.720 --> 00:34:41.160 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Imagine a young girl leaving high school with a vision statement the mission statement I have them write letters to take my job right at some point I have them right as if they're going to become president, what would they implement.

00:34:41.400 --> 00:34:51.960 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: In hey they are beautiful what would they do you know my high school students supporting them and their what's next right, we also have a health and a wellness component really important that we started to dive into.

00:34:52.170 --> 00:35:00.000 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: right because we're seeing a lot of you know, different discrepancies in different areas different zip codes out here and across and we get to talk about.

00:35:00.570 --> 00:35:08.070 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: The health and wellness component about you know how to care for ourselves better and I, you know again it starts with the leadership it's touch with me.

00:35:08.250 --> 00:35:15.750 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I started to identify some habits that weren't working for me, and now you know we have someone we have on nutrition and she's really awesome Vanessa Claremont.

00:35:16.230 --> 00:35:28.290 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Who does our health and wellness program she she's really awesome at that and then also we talked about entrepreneurship right what what great way than to support kids with becoming entrepreneurs right.

00:35:28.800 --> 00:35:37.320 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: right before colby we had a young lady she was making $500 a week, making cupcakes she was selling 100 cupcakes a day in her school.

00:35:37.440 --> 00:35:50.070 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I knew, she was 13 and we were just about to scale her business and then Kovac hit right, however she's still cooking in her home so she cooked meals and she delivers them in her building and her home because she can.

00:35:50.280 --> 00:36:00.510 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And because she loves doing it and so it's really you know that entrepreneurship What better way than to see some high school students walk across stage with with matches jobs and not just.

00:36:01.140 --> 00:36:08.400 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: You know I think it's like that longevity the legacy that we get to have them leave hey mom i'm able to buy your car hey mom i'm able to buy you a house.

00:36:08.670 --> 00:36:13.350 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And so Those are some of the things that we're getting into, especially as it relates to entrepreneurship, because.

00:36:13.740 --> 00:36:18.030 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: These young you know we don't give the young, the youth enough credit they are geniuses.

00:36:18.210 --> 00:36:25.230 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: They know how to work computers, you have like people there was a mean that there's a woman with a master's degree watching a fifth grader.

00:36:25.320 --> 00:36:33.210 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Can you open that up I don't have any sound on my computer right, but the kids are geniuses they have the technology there well versatile Why not allow them to be free.

00:36:33.420 --> 00:36:39.060 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Free and fashion, free and the things that they want to do, free and writing and being creative and I think it's really.

00:36:39.480 --> 00:36:47.910 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: allowing them to see their power it's not an age right it's not an age and you put limits on in society puts a limit you got to do this at 18 are they, why not.

00:36:48.510 --> 00:37:03.180 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Why not at 50, why not explore their ideas now right because we as adults, we think that we're always right when we're still trying to figure things out, so why not allow the kids to show us that's that's the whole thing that we're building Community right and then.

00:37:03.600 --> 00:37:16.260 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: As a result of entrepreneurship program they then are vested into back into hgtv so, then they become mentors and then they add one to 2% drip profits back into the nonprofit so that we can go back and do the work that we do.

00:37:17.100 --> 00:37:25.500 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: last thing that we did we had our toy drive a holiday annual toy drive and this year we had at the living gallery Thank you so much Nessa alicia samantha.

00:37:25.740 --> 00:37:30.300 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: city all those people that were there Thank you so much for the support you know who you are and everyone.

00:37:30.690 --> 00:37:38.760 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: We did a great feed we actually received 1000 toys donated we were able to give out 1000 toys and thank you very much, pull Delgado.

00:37:39.180 --> 00:37:45.930 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: for supporting in the feed, we were able to distribute 200 hot meals, and these were for folks that were in transitional homes.

00:37:46.110 --> 00:37:51.990 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: They waited on line for hours because the inside, was coded friendly we couldn't have many people in we wanted them to come in.

00:37:52.200 --> 00:38:00.300 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: pick up the kids pick out their gifts and they got you know we were dancing or singing you can find this all on our site folks and see like it was a lot of joy.

00:38:00.510 --> 00:38:10.080 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I tell everyone that the next thing i'm doing is my favorite thing that's my favorite thing i'm dancing i'm screaming in the streets and i'm bringing the Community and letting them know that I love them and then.

00:38:10.320 --> 00:38:20.490 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I have this love for them back where my grandmother raised us in bushwick and this year, our goal is 10,000 toys and we want to have three toy drives and distribute them.

00:38:20.790 --> 00:38:24.630 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: In three areas we're looking at hartford Connecticut we're looking at Louisiana.

00:38:24.990 --> 00:38:35.850 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Thanks RON Scott brothers at peace and we're also going to do an NPs to 74 you know that's the goal for us to have a winter Wonderland and to really support folks and let them know that they're not alone during the holidays.

00:38:37.620 --> 00:38:40.140 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: i'm incredibly inspired I have so many questions and trying to figure out.

00:38:41.220 --> 00:38:43.380 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Where to go, we can get to them i'm gonna.

00:38:43.380 --> 00:38:45.990 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Ask yeah I know you will, I know.

00:38:46.800 --> 00:38:51.720 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: That entrepreneurship piece so it's super inspiring for me, because I, you know there's there's plenty of.

00:38:53.310 --> 00:39:01.470 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You know I just i'm going to be speaking to somebody yesterday, who is who is in a family of very multi generational successful family and.

00:39:03.420 --> 00:39:11.790 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Not everybody's in a family like that they talk about entrepreneurship right they talk about being business owners, but in a lot of communities that's not discussed and.

00:39:12.060 --> 00:39:19.380 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: And the fact that you're talking this young lady with with the cupcakes making 500 bucks a week so in complex awesome at 13 years old.

00:39:19.650 --> 00:39:26.430 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Right she's already got a story to tell she's when she's 18 and 20 and things like that you know she's already done this, you know, whereas.

00:39:26.760 --> 00:39:38.820 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: there's people 40 years old, who are going well i'd like to be an entrepreneur, but I don't know if I can I don't I can't take the chance, and so it, but a lot it's all here as well, so those of you who are listening i'm pointing to my where my brain is.

00:39:39.870 --> 00:39:47.520 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: it's all in our head its own mindset thing it's you know it's age doesn't it's irrelevant really right but it's it's the exposure it's the education.

00:39:47.880 --> 00:39:58.320 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: That you're talking about here's what was coming out for me that I want to say, I have a friend of mine, I, my friend beth ball Chi stroke hey beth runs an organization called career day Inc I really want to get you guys together.

00:39:59.610 --> 00:40:12.000 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: I think i'm going to just put you on the spot a beth does these career days in schools and they're all done virtually now she's doing one in hicksville high school coming up, and I think you'd be an incredible speaker to just really empower these these young people about careers.

00:40:12.030 --> 00:40:16.770 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I love career days I do them all the time I don't just go for the coffee and donuts.

00:40:17.160 --> 00:40:25.530 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Even though i'm on keto now right but I love career days career days are awesome you know I love to X, are you are you what who do you think what do you think I do.

00:40:25.860 --> 00:40:32.400 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And a lot of them will say, teachers, you know, some of them said I was a basketball player, I was like thank you for that you know, especially.

00:40:32.700 --> 00:40:42.180 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I love going into the kindergarten rooms, because they they will tell you the truth, right and that's a core that's you know, they say, for you to really have that.

00:40:42.930 --> 00:40:53.400 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: That really powerful mind frame you hang out with young folks you hang out with people who are under the age of five or six and you hang out with those over the age of 90.

00:40:53.760 --> 00:40:56.460 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Right and so when I walk into a room full of you know.

00:40:56.880 --> 00:41:05.100 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: kids who don't know what a checking account looks like don't know what a mortgage is don't know what the real world is and they're just telling you from their heart who they.

00:41:05.340 --> 00:41:17.940 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Who to you think you are it's a really beautiful thing and I love career days, because it allows young are you to dream right because that's the thing we tell them dream big you can do anything but, at the core we don't believe that they don't believe us.

00:41:19.920 --> 00:41:30.990 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: yeah that's that that's an unfortunate thing we you know words have meanings but what's what's said behind them, you know even the nonverbal things are incredibly meaningful and really impact what what these kids.

00:41:31.560 --> 00:41:42.510 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: are going to do the nutrition piece, I want to hear more about, but I would tell me about how hard for in Louisiana from bushwick what i'm not I can't let that go well, how does it what's the connection there.

00:41:42.600 --> 00:41:47.280 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: So I have extended family in hartford Connecticut and I have a lot of volunteers up there.

00:41:47.490 --> 00:41:55.920 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: So I already have a following and I feel like it's a great place to give back I love hartford they're very great areas in hartford and they're very the areas that.

00:41:56.220 --> 00:42:02.160 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: see the same things that we see in bushwick so I said, why not and Louisiana have a partner Iran Scott brothers at peace.

00:42:02.340 --> 00:42:08.910 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And so we're going to go down there and partner up I think it's important for nonprofits if you're listening to me executive directors if you're listening to me.

00:42:09.120 --> 00:42:11.610 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: partner with other local organizations.

00:42:11.820 --> 00:42:25.320 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: wherever they are, this is not a power struggle, this is not about ego if it's really about your mission then you're going to do whatever it takes to create impact, I see executive directors Oh, we can't do this, we can't do that take care out your vocabulary.

00:42:25.560 --> 00:42:30.210 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: stop having meetings about the meetings really implement a plan figure out what you want to do.

00:42:30.390 --> 00:42:40.020 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: implement a plan and do it right, because you know if you learn anything about watching shark tank or any of these shows its first the idea, then the process and the profit.

00:42:40.290 --> 00:42:47.190 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Right, so you have an idea of figure out the process behind it and then create the profit behind it, the nfl is a nonprofit folks.

00:42:47.490 --> 00:42:47.670 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: To.

00:42:48.090 --> 00:42:54.150 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: The nfl is a nonprofit and they're making billions and nothing is stopping them and nothing is stopping us in the nonprofit world.

00:42:54.270 --> 00:43:03.090 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: it's not about just the financial peace we get to have different revenue streams and connect with and allow our programs to flourish in other states and other.

00:43:03.270 --> 00:43:09.840 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Countries right in you know we we tend to think Okay, I just wanted to reach this it doesn't have to look that way.

00:43:09.990 --> 00:43:20.700 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: And I see nonprofit struggle, because they don't want to partner partner with people it's okay to get on a plane it's okay to have fear right it's okay to have butterflies in your stomach if you're not if you.

00:43:20.970 --> 00:43:27.060 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Even this morning, I think I changed five times, even this morning right just to get on here right in my own home.

00:43:27.240 --> 00:43:35.340 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: I change right, it makes me nervous, if you are not peeing on your legs are shaking or you don't have butterflies before you do something, then you shouldn't be doing it.

00:43:35.550 --> 00:43:38.130 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: You can have the both and it's a choice.

00:43:38.340 --> 00:43:47.070 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: You know you seen the mom with five kids struggle and then make it you've seen the father, who is is then weighed old and has two kids and makes a you've seen all of the.

00:43:47.220 --> 00:44:00.210 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: great success stories, you get to be one of them let's stop holding ourselves back in the context of that can I can I can, if you think that you can executive director sold as the rest of your team and sold to the people who you're making impact to.

00:44:01.350 --> 00:44:10.110 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: wow wow so much there the collaboration piece is huge i'm all about it, you know we actually met through these nonprofit roundtables.

00:44:11.010 --> 00:44:12.180 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Back in the day in real time.

00:44:12.510 --> 00:44:16.890 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Last month I have my friend harmonization what's up shout out Carmen she was talking about.

00:44:17.790 --> 00:44:26.970 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: branding your nonprofit and thinking of your nonprofit as if you were a business as if because a nonprofit is it's a tax status right, you know.

00:44:27.360 --> 00:44:32.220 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: But the mentality, the mindset that you're talking about that comes from top down leadership roles down.

00:44:32.580 --> 00:44:40.830 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: it's critically important than the collaboration we are going to sneak real quick break and then we're going to come back with the here in the attic, but I just we could go on for hours.

00:44:41.160 --> 00:44:42.480 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: i'm just yes thanks.

00:44:43.650 --> 00:44:48.000 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: we'll be back in just a minute or two folks comedy in the attic with D hey there beautiful.

00:47:01.530 --> 00:47:04.140 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: that's right join me in the attic every Friday morning right.

00:47:05.550 --> 00:47:08.850 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Next to the roof, and so uh so.

00:47:09.540 --> 00:47:18.450 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: i'm going to go Nikita Peters checking in on the Facebook, she says yes, let the baby shine let them know let's collaborate so love that welcome welcome to the show glad you checking in with us.

00:47:18.690 --> 00:47:25.800 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: I guess you're referring to let the baby shower and just talking about the young ones and really the inspiration, that they are when they just kind of get out there and do that stuff.

00:47:26.130 --> 00:47:31.320 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: The only cupcakes look um you talked about eating healthy, this is a green smoothie my wife made me thank.

00:47:33.420 --> 00:47:35.190 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: You got water it's kale and.

00:47:35.640 --> 00:47:44.520 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: it's almond milk and little bit of peanut butter in there right bananas, the whole deal, but you know I haven't had a cupcake in like three and a half weeks so when you start talking about the young lady with the cupcakes i'm just.

00:47:44.760 --> 00:47:46.530 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: it's good that you can send them the White House and drop.

00:47:46.530 --> 00:47:47.400 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: away I.

00:47:48.060 --> 00:47:53.190 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Was eating that stuff anyway, so I want to go back to one thing before we keep moving up Brothers of peace.

00:47:53.490 --> 00:47:55.440 Dailisha Eve Rodriguez, Hey  There Beautiful Inc.: Is that the right name of the organizations that piece yeah.

00:47:55.470 --> 00:47:57.630 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: brothers at peace, you know I saw the hoodie.

00:47:58.230 --> 00:48:04.950 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: I started a trend like it saw your picture with with one of their hoodies on so I gotta get my hands on so I got to find those guys and buy one from because.

00:48:05.190 --> 00:48:11.820 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: My first show I had my friend katie McGowan from horse ability on and she sent me this incredible horse ability hoodie so what I really want.

00:48:12.090 --> 00:48:19.110 Tommy D #TheNonProfitSectorConnector: Is I want a hoodie from everybody that's come on the program so I got it now fine I got, but these guys haven't been on the show yet, but maybe if I buy the hoodie maybe they'll come on the show.
