This week on Voices of Courage, host Ken D. Foster is joined by Kristin Grayce McGary, a health and lifestyle expert, internationally recognized author and speaker, and authority on autoimmunity, functional blood chemistry analysis, thyroid and gut health, and pain alleviation, and Catherine Carrigan, a Medical Intuitive Healer, best-selling author, and the host of The Natural Healing Show on UK Health Radio who has a passion for healing and helping individuals become radiantly healthy, to discuss the courage to step into our greatness and unlock the secrets to vibrant health in our personal lives and in our nation.
Ken calls on listeners to take action within existing social movements, and to use their voices for causes that are important to them. Perform two courageous acts every 30 days to improve yourself and the world.
Ken introduces his first guest, Kristin Grayce McGary, a healthy lifestyle expert with a focus on gut health. She focuses on how food can be medicine or poison, and can fuel or hinder the body and mind.
Ken asks Kristin, what are the keys to having vibrant health? People often do not have complete information about what’s going on in their body and make uninformed lifestyle choices. Kristin likes to use a functional blood chemistry analysis to find out exactly what is happening inside the body. With specific information about a patient’s body, Kristin can help them make informed health choices.
Ken asks if Kristin thinks that the body can heal anything. Kristin points out the difference between curing and healing. You can’t always cure diseases like cancer, but you can use healing to alleviate physical and emotional trauma and to make patients more comfortable. Shifting a patient’s mindset from seeing themselves as a victim of pain to being in a position of control can help relieve pain and aid healing.
Kristin explains how the gut is related to our overall health. Our mood and comfort is closely tied to how our gut is feeling, and the gut’s state can have a strong influence on the mind. The gut also plays a large role in our immune system. A healthy gut can contribute to a healthy mind and strong immune system.
Kristin discusses the commonality of pain – sometimes it is physical, sometimes mental. It is important to find the root of pain and develop a heightened awareness before we treat the symptoms. Ken asks, why do some people have more pain than others? Kristin says that pain is a messenger. She helps patients translate pain so they can understand what their body is trying to say.
Ken asks, what stops people from getting healthy? Kristin thinks people are afraid and often get locked in old patterns of behavior and thinking. She believes that learning new and healthier habits can actually be quite joyful.
Ken introduces his next guest, Catherine Carrigan, author and host of the Natural Healing Show. Ken asks what are the three most important strategies for vibrant health. Catherine says you should identify your soul purpose, find a stable environment (includes food, thoughts, and physical surroundings), and move your energy through yoga, tai chi, and more. Paying attention to these three strategies will lead you to places and opportunities that will keep you healthy.
Ken asks Catherine, how do you read your soul when you’re stuck in emotions? Catherine says you need to find a neutral state and focus upon your soul. Fear places you in an unconscious, reptilian part of your brain. It is important to re-access the frontal lobes to make higher levels of choices.
